2024 Polls: Bawumia to beat Mahama with over 1million votes difference – COKA predicts
By:Isaac Amoah
The former Chairman for the Association of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairmen in the Ashanti Region, who doubles as the former Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has revealed that the governing NPP is working behind the scenes to fix all challenges resulting from its internal elections to enable it to break the 8 in the 2024 general election.
According to him, it’s possible for the NPP, led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to beat former President John Dramani Mahama with over one million votes difference.
“We’re determined to win the 2024 polls with a landslide to the extent that Mahama, with NDC, won’t have any cause to complain as he is fond of doing,” he pointed out.
Therefore, COKA, as he is affectionately called, is calling on the rank and file of the NPP to put behind them their differences as a result of the internal primaries from the polling station level to the selection of the flagbearer for the 2024 polls. “We seriously need everyone on board to make breaking the 8 easy. I can tell you that God has given NPP victory in 2024 and what we (NPP members) need is to fix our things well,” he added.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah made the call in an exclusive interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on “Sompa TV”, a Kumasi-based local station on Tuesday,12th December 2024. It was also broadcast live on “Sompa 93.1 FM”.
According to him, Mr Mahama and NDC have nothing new to offer Ghanaians. He, therefore, cautioned the electorate not to allow themselves to be scammed or deceived into voting for Mr Mahama.
He said the NPP government, led by Nana Akufo-Akufo, had done a lot “but there is still challenges we’re working hard to fix.”
Contrary to some people’s perception that COKA has something against the incumbent Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, he stated emphatically, “I hold nothing against Chairman Wontumi.”
“We’re all working together for the ultimate goal of helping Dr Bawumia to lead NPP to break the 8. I’m begging the rank and file of the party, especially party leaders from the polling station level to the national level, to reach out to all aggrieved or disgruntled members or sympathisers to avert any form of apathy ahead of the 2024 polls,” he pleaded.

According to him, politics is all about numbers, for which reason everyone is seriously needed on board.
“Let’s all be humble and talk to all those who are aggrieved, especially supporters of unsuccessful flagbearer hopefuls, including Mr Alan Kyeremanten, to help bring all of them back,” he stressed.
He hinted that those in the Ashanti Region were working hard to help NPP and Dr Bawumia win about 80 per cent of the votes in the 2024 presidential election.
He stated that there’s no way NPP would sit down for Mr Mahama and NDC to get about 28 per cent of the Ashanti Region votes. “We’re all aware that every time NDC gets about 28 per cent of votes from the Ashanti Region, NPP loses the general election,” he noted.
COKA stressed “that is why I’m pleading with the NPP Flagbearer and Leader, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to choose his running mate from the Ashanti Region. Per our constitution, Dr Bawumia has been given the mandate to choose someone as his running mate in consultation with the party leadership.”
“But we also have the right to make suggestions for his consideration. We don’t just want a running mate but someone who appeals to voters. Running mate is about numbers,” he added.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah emphasised the need for Ghanaians to continue to coexist by doing away with religious and ethnic conflicts, adding that the 2024 general election is not about religious or ethnic conflict.
“We need to vote massively for Dr Bawumia to continue the good work being done by President Akufo-Akufo to the benefits of all Ghanaians,” he appealed to Ghanaians.
He cautioned Ghanaians, especially those in the Ashanti Region, not to repeat the 2008 mistake of voting out NPP only to regret seriously for voting for NDC .
“Mahama has nothing new to offer Ghanaians and let’s not allow him to scam us again!” he warned.

He admitted that the country’s economy is facing some challenges but the NPP government has done a lot across the country.
“I can’t say that the NPP government has met all the expectations of all Ghanaians, but NPP is far better than NDC. Mahama’s 24-hour economy is all about demand and supply.
“Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has maintained that it’s possible, and I believe the 24-hour economy is only possible under NPP, not under Mahama and NDC who have a bad track record in the energy sector,” he pointed out.
He said Mahama needed to come back again on his 24-hour economy because the need for sustainable market, raw materials, energy supply, provision of security, among other factors, is very important as far the implementation of the 24-hour economy is concerned.
“Ahead of the 2024 polls, we won’t sit down for Mahama to just say anything to deceive people for votes,” he added.
