The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana National Gas Company(GNGC),Dr.Ben K D.Asante,has officially commissioned a newly constructed Astro Turf at Asokwa Presby basic School in Kumasi .
The CEO said looking at the facility, it is incredible comparing what the park looked before. This project looked beautiful not just the pitch but the attendance spectator stands.
You will see that this is a one-of-a kind and I congratulate the contractor(Nana Antwi -Britz Engineering Ltd) for the good work done,” .
Dr.Asante who was an old boy at Asokwa PRESBY basic school about Fifty (50)years ago, revealed that the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asokwa,Hon.Akwannuasah Gyimah made the proposal for the project and Ghana Gas Company inline with its corporate social responsibilities decided to finance it .
The CEO explained that the Company’s main function are production of gas, human development and Community development.
According to him,the Company about five(5) years ago was producing just 90 units of Gas but has been able to triple it to 300units currently.
This, he indicated was good news for Ghana to avoid energy crisis (Dumsor) any time soon.
The company is currently providing 50% of LPG gas used domestically in Ghana .
He said as a result of replacing Chinese experts with trained- Ghanaian engineers,they are saving Ghana an amount of Ghc 5million monthly.
The policy had also helped in employing many unemployed Ghanaian Youth.
Dr.Ben Asante said Ghana Gas in becoming good corporate social citizens, they’re actually engaged in four key areas – health, education, water and sanitation and sports and.

He said they have taken a good step not just the wellbeing but also to create some communal spirit within Asokwa community through the construction of the Astro Turf.
“We’re excited about this particular facility and we know it is going to go a long way to what we stand to accomplished.
He therefore commended the MCE for Asokwa for coming out with the proposal for the project,Asokwahene,Nana Fe-Baamoah II for giving them conflict-free land , Presbyterian church, Member of Parliament for the area,Hon.Patricia Appiagyei, Assembly members as well as other stakeholders for their support in ensuring to the completion of the project.
Nana Fe-Baamoah II,the Asokwahene was full of praised of Dr.Ben K.D.Asante and Ghana National Gas Company for the magnificent Astro Turf.
He pledged the support of Nananom to help the Asokwa Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders to ensure regular maintenance of the project to last long.
On his part,Rev.Yaw Barima who spoke on behalf of Asokwa Presbyterian church also heaps praises on Ghana Gas CEO and his team for considering the proposal to put up a beautiful Astro Turf at Presbytery Basic school park at Asokwa.He revealed that plans were far advance for the Church to Construct fence hall around the school to help protect the facility for the entire community benefits.
