Ahafo Ano South West NPP Primaries: Elvis Daapah Files Nomination Forms … As Delegates Root For Him
There was a big jubilation after the immediate past governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Treasurer, Mr. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, popularly known as Okumkom, had filed his nomination forms to contest the Ahafo Ano South West NPP primaries slated for 27th January 2024.
Okumkom, who was accompanied by hundreds of delegates in the area, went to the party’s office at Mankraso, the constituency and district capital, on Friday, 22nd December 2023, to submit his nomination forms.
Mr. Edward Kofi Acheampong, the Ahafo Ano South West NPP Chairman, in the presence of Mr. Anthony Fosu, the Council of Elders, chairperson, among other executives, received the nomination forms.
A large number of party delegates, as well as NPP members, burst into big jubilation amid drumming and dancing.
After scrutinising the document, the constituency chairman, with the assistance of other executives, said
Mr. Elvis Dapaah had fulfilled all the requirements for the contest.

In an interview with the media, Okumkom who is a well -known businessman pointed out that he had consistently contributed his quota to the well-being of the people in the area and not only to NPP members.
“I’m very confident that the delegates of Ahafo Ano South West constituency will vote for me massively, come 27th January 2024, as the next NPP parliamentary candidate to retain the seat,” he said.

He added, “I hope my support to all manner of people, developmental projects … support to brilliant, needy students, road construction in “no-go areas” or deplorable roads, among other interventions over the years, will pay off to ensure massive victory for all of us.”
According to him, when given the nod, he would lobby for improvement in education, healthcare, road infrastructure and agriculture.
He lamented that the district lacks a major hospital, and he intends to lobby for improvement in healthcare in the district.
Concerning his contribution to the party, he mentioned that the
Mpaseaso-Nyamekye community, which is a well-known NDC-dominated area, is gradually falling to NPP after he had constructed the bad road network in the area.
He said the people, including those in other communities, had decided to support the ruling party due to his personal contribution to complement the developmental agenda of the government.
He added that the Wioso community drainage challenge had been fixed; he has also helped built a new office complex for NPP at
Mankraso.
On education, he said he had developed a programme to support brilliant, needy students.
This year alone, he has sponsored over 90 brilliant, needy students in various tertiary institutions.
Also, he has supplied much furniture to schools in the Kunsu community, his home town, including the construction of two boreholes and many other infrastructural projects.
A cross-section of delegates, who spoke to the media, heaped praises on Mr. Elvis Dapaah. To them, he is the Messiah for the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, for which reason they urged their colleague delegates to endorse him overwhelmingly, come 27th January 2024, to lead the party to victory.
According to them, Okumkom has proven beyond doubt that he has the development of the people of the constituency at heart and needs to be given the mandate to represent them in Parliament in 2025.
The residents of the area, who joined Okumkom to file his nomination, declared that “no Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah no vote in the 2024 polls.”
They, therefore, appealed to the delegates to vote massively for him.
