A 75-year old educationist, and communicator for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Wallas Ababio, has underscored the need for him to be handed the Sekyere South Municipal Chief executive position despite being old man.

Mr. Wallas Ababio, who is numbered among the 11 applicants vying for the Sekyere South Municipal Chief executive(MCE) position, asserted that the former president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, was untrusted to manage the entire country at the age of 73 and ended as an octogenarian.

This according to uncle Wallas as affectionately called, makes him equally fit for the MCE position in municipality, a far less position to be compared to that of Nana Akuffo Addo, who was president of the entire nation.

“I have advanced in age but i’m younger in stature, so when the elderly are called i show up with my age; and when young men are called i show up with my size; I’m ” ‘Akokokra- abrantie’ as people say it, and I can equally manage my municipality at age 75 as Akuffo managed the entire country in his 80s,” he stated.

The former Prempeh college tutor, Mr. Wallas Ababio, highlighted on education as one of the major areas he will help to improve upon when given the nod to serve as the MCE, by enhancing the quality of education at the basic and elementary level which have been ran down in previous years, Senior High Schools will also experience quality infrastructural facelift, besides, teachers welfare which is dear to his heart. Again, he mentioned that he will promote the private and public sector investment to enable the youth get sustainable jobs to cater for themselves, thirdly, he mentioned entrepreneurship as one of the key areas he will pay much attention to if he is considered as the Municipal Chief Executive((MCE).

He expressed that his love for the NDC party dates back to his active service days as a civil servant even though he exercised some restraints in order not to be victimized. However, after retiring as the head of finance and administration at the Kumasi Metro education office in the year 2010, he assumed his current position as a communicator for the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in the Ashanti Region from the year 2011 till today. And later became the regional administrator for the NDC party from 2016-2020.

He concluded by urging the NDC Ashanti Regional secretariat to do him the honours by given him the mandate to serve his constituents as the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) of the Sekyere South Municipal, not to mention of their previous promises to him concerning same position leading to 2016, 2020, and the just ended 2024 elections.

“I have worked tirelessly for the party and this is payback time,” he stated.
