ASH NPP ORGANIZER CHASES MEDIA,CSOs & RELIGIOUS LEADERS OVER SILENCE ON NDC’S KILLER NOMINATION FEES
The Ashanti Regional Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP),Francis Adomako has expresses great surprised about the sudden silent of Ghanaian media,Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the religious leaders silent on the killer National Democratic Congress (NDC) nomination fees for Presidential and Parliamentary candidates for 2024 general elections.
According to Ashanti regional NPP organizer who is popularly known in the political space as Francois,the Five hundred thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc 500,000) and Forty thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc40,00) for presidential and parliamentary candidates hopefuls is too high especially when the same NDC is complaining about economic hardship.
He said it is hypocrisy in the highest order for a party that pride itself as a socialist party to peg filling fees for flagbearer hopefuls at Ghc500k and Gh 40k for Parliamentary candidate hopefuls even in opposition .
Commenting on the nomination fees in interview with The New Trust Newspaper Online ,Francois said what surprises him is how Greater Accra constituency Chairmen of the NDC quickly mobilized Ghc500,000 to pay for former President John Mahama to contest at the time global economy including Ghana is facing challenges.
The party is also sure of various interested aspirants mobilizing such huge amount only for filling fees not to talk about campaigning itself!
Why is the media, CSOS and religious leaders suddenly silent over this ridiculous filling or nomination fees of NDC?
It would be recalled that the General Secretary of NDC,Mr.Fifii Kwetey during the media announcement of the fees said “now the reason why we (NDC) settle for the GHC 500,000 cedis is that four years ago when we organized this same Presidential primary.,
We settled for a non-refundable filling fee of Ghc 300,000,which was four years ago. Now four years ago Ghc300,000 given what has happened to this economy, given the complete devastation that has happened not just to our cedi.Because of the abysmal performance of the government, we have today “.
Ghc 300,000 in 2018/19 compared to Ghc 500,000 today. You will in truth that this Ghc500,000 is actually worthless than the Ghc 300,000 that we made our candidates pay four years ago “,he explained.
But Ashanti NPP organizer sees the reasons for the fixing of the NDC flagbearer or Presidential candidate hopefuls and parliamentary candidate’s hopefuls untenable especially when the same NDC boasts itself as socialist political party couple with the current economic difficulties the country like other nations are going through as a result of deadly Covid-19 pendamic, Russian-Ukranie war among others factors.
Francois therefore expects the position of the media, CSOS and the religious leaders on the NDC’S filling fees.
