RE: FALSE CLAIMS OF DEFECTION OF ASHANTI REGIONAL NDC CADRES CHAIRMAN AND EXECUTIVES TO NPP

The leadership of the Ashanti Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) have noted with concern false reports circulating in certain media outlets, alleging that a certain Ashanti Regional Cadres Chairman, Alhaji Muntari Alhassan, along with his entire executive team, has defected to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) after an encounter with Chairman Wontumi.

We wish to categorically state that this information is entirely fabricated. The Ashanti Regional Chairman for Cadres of the NDC is Comrade Nana Krobea Bismark. Furthermore, the constituency in question, Kwabre East, is chaired by Comrade Osei Agyemang. The individual named in the report, Alhaji Muntari Alhassan, is not known to the NDC, either within the hierarchy or as a member of the Cadres group. This story is nothing but a baseless attempt to mislead the public and create false sense of hope for the failed NPP government.

We advise Chairman Wontumi to direct his attention to addressing the significant internal challenges within his party in the Ashanti Region, particularly the growing rift between himself and NAPO.
Rather than sponsoring fake news about alleged defections of NDC members, his focus should be on mending the fractured relationships within the NPP.

It is important to recall that the NPP has a history of spreading falsehoods, as evidenced by the recent fake claim by NAPO regarding the defection of 95 NDC members, which also proved to be entirely unfounded. Such tactics only serve to undermine the credibility of the NPP.

The Ashanti Region remains firmly committed to the NDC and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. Our party in the Ashanti Region is united, focused, and fully prepared to deliver a resounding victory in the upcoming elections.

We urge all members, supporters, and the general public to disregard these false reports and remain steadfast in their support for the NDC.

Signed,
Dr(med) Frank Amoakohene
Ashanti Regional Secretary
