The Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, has commissioned a bungalow for the Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
The Minister commended Mr. Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, the MCE for the area, who doubles as a former Member of Parliament (MP)for Nhyieaso constituency, for his transformational and development-oriented leadership that has led to the completion of many projects in the area.

It would be recalled that Mr. Osei-Mensah, a few months ago, commissioned about 40 projects together in a day, including a new municipal assembly block, an ultramodern fire service station, Municipal Coordinating Director’s bungalow,staff accommodation among other projects.

The commissioning of the MCE bungalow on Thursday, 28th November 2024, was chaired by Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, the Asokore Mamponghene.
The event was also used by stakeholders for the signing of peace accord by the parliamentary candidates of the various political parties in the Asawase Constituency to ensure a violence-free contest.

In his welcome address, Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, the MCE, thanked Asokore Mamponghene, the clergy, imams, zongo chiefs, as well as other stakeholders and the staff of the Assembly for their support which has witnessed massive infrastructural development under his leadership.
He called for their continued support to ensure continuous development and peace in the area.
The official signing of the peace pact or accord at the Asokore-Mampong chief palace symbolised their dedication to fostering peace within the constituency before and after the upcoming elections.

Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Asawase Constituency, expressed his appreciation for the effective management of the regional security by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Osei-Mensah.

He acknowledged that despite his disagreements with certain aspects of the Regional Minister’s work, he felt it was important to recognise and commend his efforts.
“The Ashanti Region, under the leadership of Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, has witnessed a significant improvement in security, particularly within the Asawase Constituency,” Muntaka Mubarak noted.
The Asawase MP, who was the first to sign the peace accord, assured the constituents of a peaceful electoral process.
He said, “I want to reassure everyone in the Asawase Constituency that the forthcoming election will be conducted in a peaceful manner. I also wish to caution against any attempts to undermine the integrity of the election.”
He, however, said he would not tolerate any form of cheating. He urged all stakeholders to ensure that the electoral process unfolds in a peaceful and orderly environment.
On the other hand, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, Mr. Manaf Ibrahim, also reiterated his commitment to ensuring a peaceful election. “If there is any violence during these elections in Asawase, it will not originate from me. I have communicated this to my supporters, and I stand by my promise. In alignment with the sentiments expressed by my esteemed colleague, Hon. Muntaka, I am fully dedicated to endorsing the peace pact,” he pointed out.
He continued, “There is no cause for concern as, for the first time, Asawase has not been labelled as a potential conflict zone in the constituency due to our peaceful campaign efforts.”
“I am optimistic that in the remaining nine days leading up to the elections, tranquility will prevail in the Asawase Constituency,” he added.
During the event, which was presided over by the Asokore Mamponhene, Nana Boakye Ansah Debrah, the Municipal Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission provided electoral education to the attendees.
He assured the electorate that the Electoral Commission in the constituency would uphold fairness throughout the electoral process.
Nana Boakye Ansah Debarah, the Asokore Mamponghene, entreated all the stakeholders, especially political parties to strictly adhere to the peace accord to ensure incident-free election.
He also advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used by any politician to cause confusion before, during and after the Saturday, December 7 general election.
“Let’s all commit ourselves to ensure peaceful election”,he pleaded.
