THE Assembly Member for Mafi Tsati Electoral Arear in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region,Mr.Herbert Afenyo Yawlui, has met some communities within his jurisdiction to senstize them ahead of the commencement of road construction.

The communities he met include ,Mafi Havenu,Gborkofe,Mafi Tsati ,Adelekpe, Mafi Yorkutikpo and Tsakpodzi. These towns would be the direct beneficiaries of the 52 kilometres road construction.

The sensitization meeting was aimed at creating awareness for the communities especially those whose farm lands and buildings would be affected during the construction of the road.The 52 kilometre road from Mafi Abude through Mafi Havenu- Gborkorfe,Mafi Tsati ,Adelekpe,

Mafi Yorkutikpo to Mafi Avedo linking Adidome – Sogakofe Highways was awarded to the Fordeline Construction Limited.Claring processes have since begun in ernest by the contractor to swing into full work on the road very soon.Mr.Afenyo Yawlui urged people who have cultivated crops along the road to harvest them to pave the way for the claring works

.”For the past four to five months we have made everyone aware of this road project which over the years has been our headache,we need to do things in the right ways to avoid delaying the contractor” he said.The Assemblyman entreated the people to be vigilant to protect the construction materials.He observed that in some instances when such works are being executed in other part of the country,some unscrupulous workers conived with the community folks to steal items like cement ,iron rods and turn to sell them to unsuspecting people.This attitude ,Mr.Afenyo Yawlui noted that affects the quality of the road.

‘ Sometimes we blame contractors for doing a shoddy work but it was not their fault,some greedy and unpatriotic people who conived with some workers of the construction company to steal materials meant for the work are the causes of shoddy works our some of our roads”he noted.

” I want to appeal to all of you here to be watch dogs amon yourselves and volunteer information to the authorities concerning any suspicious act regarding pilfiling the materials provided for the road project”

” We have cried long time for this road to be tarred for us but to no avail,today our tears are about be wiped away under this government, therefore we must do everything possible to ensure quick commencement and the successful completion of the road on time ” he appealed to them.
