I’ll use all legitimate means to help you get back your press centre – Ashanti Regional Minister assures GJA
By:Isaac Amoah
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has started hitting the ground running after assuming office a few weeks ago, by engaging various stakeholders and soliciting for their support to succeed.
During his first participation of the Thanksgiving & Get-together ceremony of the Ashanti Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) held last Friday, the Minister touched on a project of the media fraternity, which is an abandoned press centre initiated by the then Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Opoku, during Mr. John Mahama’s first administration.

Currently, the abandoned project has been demolished by a private developer because of new land arrangements according to the Ashanti GJA Chairman, Kingsley E. Hope.
Dr. Amoakohene said, “I’ll definitely reach out to Honourable Eric Opoku, who happens to be the current Minister of Food & Agriculture and liaise with GJA leadership to find a way out for you to get your press centre.”
This assurance put some smiles on the faces of the GJA chairman, other executives and the media fraternity in the region.
It is unfortunate that the project which was initiated in 2013 was not continued during the previous administration.
However, Dr. Amoakohene’s assurance seems to have given an indication that there is hope.
Pranghene makes passionate appeal to Mahama govt to complete Agenda 111 hospital project at Prang
By Kofi Owusu
The Omanhene of the Prang Traditional Area in the Bono East Region of Ghana, Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, has made a passionate appeal to the Mahama administration to mobilise funds to complete the Agenda 111 hospital project at Prang started by the previous administration.
According to him, despite the recent concerns raised by President Mahama over the Agenda 111 hospital projects, he
would be more grateful to his government if the uncompleted Agenda 111 hospital at Prang is completed and it becomes operational.
Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III
The former Council of State member during the erstwhile Rawlings administration said the hospital was dear to his heart because the residents around that area had to go through frustrations before accessing quality healthcare due to long distance.
In an interview with this paper, Pranghene said he personally appealed to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to upgrade the Prang health facility so that residents of Prang, Abease, Komfuorkrom, Kukunde, Labun, Abua, Parambo, Nyomoase, Bankama, among others, could also access quality healthcare without necessarily going to Atebubu, Ejura, Mampong or Kumasi.
Nana Nyarko explained that Prang is strategically located, hence Nana Akufo-Addo included the area as one of the beneficiaries of the Agenda 111 hospital projects.
According to him, the current government should endeavour to mobilise funds, so that the contractors could come on site to complete the project as soon as possible to help serve the people in that area well.
Pranghene said the issue of health should not be toyed with because illness could adversely affect everyone irrespective of political, regional or ethnic differences.
Nana Nyarko said he doesn’t understand why successive governments always want to abandon projects initiated by their predecessors.
“For many years now, whenever there is a change of government, the predecessor finds it very difficult to complete the projects initiated by the previous one,” he pointed out.
“The most important thing is for the leaders to look out for the purpose of the projects and if there is the need to complete them, the government should do that as quickly as possible for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” he added.
Kwesi Pratt not fit to untie the shoes of Dr J. B. Danquah – UP Traditional Institute says
Dr. J.B. Danquah was a politician with high pedigree, scholar, a lawyer, and statesman. Dr. J.B Danquah was a politician in pre and post-colonial Ghana.
These attributes alone should command a degree of respect for such a personality, especially from someone who pride himself as renowned historian and journalist.
I’m directly referring to Mr. Kwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper.
Mr. Pratt, I believe you enjoy the title ‘senior journalist’ so much when it’s attached to your name on national television programmes? Note that this is done to signify the significance of your contributions to the journalism profession. But you know too well that you had not been in this profession without flaws. So should the young ones disrespect you for this reason? Or use disparaging words describe you?
If not. Why would you, for whatever interest, attack the personality of Dr J.B Danquah despite his contributions to this country as a politician, lawyer and statesman?
Winning or losing an election is not a determinant of greatness. So many people are national heroes without contesting or even winning an election.
Mr. Pratt, have you ever won election in this country before? On that basis, can we say that Kwesi Pratt is of no relevance or usefulness to nation-building of Ghana? Has Kwesi Pratt’s father or any family member ever won an election in Ghana?
No one has imposed Dr. J. B. Danquah on Ghanaians but the facts of our history still remains that, Dr. J. B. Danquah:
1. Plays instrumental role in Ghana’s independence and democracy.
2. Was a significant member of the “Big Six” just like Kwame Nkrumah was a significant member of the “Big Six” .
3. Contributed significantly to the human capital development of Ghana in the areas of Journalism, Activitism, and Education.
Equating Chairman Wontumi to J. B. Danquah is unfortunate comparison and very crèche.
Dr. J. B. Danquah is not equivalent to Kwame Nkrumah or Chairman Wontumi. He is a class of his own, and has significantly contributed to the independence journey of Ghana. The hatred of uncle Kwesi Pratt cannot override the contributions of Dr. J. B. Danquah to the political history of Ghana.

Reconsider revocation of appointment of employees recruited after December 7 – Apostle Ackah Braimah appeals to Prez Mahama
By Charles Ampong
The Head Pastor of the Caravan of Prayer Outreach Ministry at Gyinyase in the Asokwa Constituency of Ashanti, Apostle Johnson Ackah Braimah, has added his voice to the trending issue of government’s revocation of appointment of employees, who were recruited after the December 7 general election.
The revocation of their appointment follows a directive by the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah.
He said government must reconsider the decision and give it a human-face approach since all those affected are Ghanaians.
Apostle Braimah made the appeal in an interview with “The New Trust” newspaper on Tuesday, 4th March 2025.
He noted that though the government’s reason for sacking these employees, which is due to lack of funds to cater for them, somehow makes sense, the government should also try to look for alternative means to reabsorb them.
He explained that though the government had boldly explained to Ghanaians why these young men and women had been sacked, he personally smells “tit for tat” tactics.
He said when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) took office in 2017, a similar thing happened and he personally believes that the Mahama administration is repeating the same thing.
According to Apostle Braimah, no matter how the situation is, the NPP and the National Democratic Congress must bury their differences and look at the best means to move the nation forward.
He stated that the President must know that the affected youth are all Ghanaians and any attempt to frustrate them from getting employment could turn back to affect the nation, especially in the future.
He said some could involve themselves in armed robbery and social vices which the nation could bear the consequences.
He highlighted a principle in the Bible that says, “We shouldn’t pay evil with evil and that we must always pray for our enemies in order to succeed in life.”

“As a seasoned politician, I would always recognise the vital role of journalists in shaping the country’s narratives and holding leaders accountable.”

By: Charles Ampong
The former Abirem Electoral area Assembly Member in Ashanti region, who is also card bearing member of the ruling party,
(NDC),Mr.. Abdul Fatawu Yahaya, has lauded the president, John Dramani Mahama for his foresight for the establishment of Hajj Village.
Abdul Fatawu Yahaya
He said those, who are trying to equate it with the National Cathedral project, should be properly be educated in order to see the difference between the two.
In an interview, Mr Abdul Fatawu Yahaya said this comparison is not only misplaced but also tantamount of promoting religious bigotry.
He explained that, Ghana is one of the few countries in the world where religious tolerance is fully prevailing and ‘we must not do anything that could spark divisions between Christians and Muslims”.
According to him, Hajj Village is embodied with the principle for money, investment returns and corporate social responsibility..
Therefore, according to former Abirem Assembly member, the Hajj Village is going to offer a clear path to generate revenue.
According to him, the annual Hajj pilgrimage generate huge amount of money for the government that contributes significantly to nation’s growth and development.
He explained that, in line with this, government investing in Hajj Village project to generate revenue for the state is a step in right direction and must be commended instead of bombardment from the critics.
He said many Ghanaians pilgrims sometimes, had to use Togo and other neighbouring countries on their journey to Mecca, which is more affordable.
The former Assembly member said the government considered all these factors together with the need of improving the facilities at the Hajj Village in order to attract local pilgrims to patronize the facility.
According to him, unlike the National Cathedral, which financial viability remains unknown, the Hajj Village project promises a guaranteed return on investment.
