The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore and a pioneer in NPP youth advocacy, Hon. Dr. Ayew Afriyie has encouraged the youth of the party to remain positive about the party’s electoral prospects as we enter the New Year 2025.
Dr. Ayew Afriyie believes the NPP will bounce back stronger, urging the youth of the party not to despair in spite of the December 7, 2024 electoral defeat.
Dr.Dr. Ayew Afriyie
In a heartfelt message to the teeming youth of the party, the outspoken Legislator noted that though last year’s electoral defeat came as a shocker, it was time for the party, especially the youth wing to shake the dust off their feet and approach the coming years with renewed hope and commitment.
There are concerns about how the NPP will be able to revive its base following the embarrassing defeat suffered at the hands of its bitterest political rival the NDC in the December 7 polls.
But the Effiduase Asokore Member of Parliament says the year 2025 should signal a new dawn for the party, calling on all groups within the party to gird their loins for the battle ahead.
Noted for his lead role in sustaining the party’s grassroots advocacy as the lead founder of the once vibrant Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG) has declared his readiness to support the party’s grassroots resurgence even as “we prepare to offer constructive and credible opposition to the incoming NDC administration ”
“This is not the time for us to lose hope; the NPP is a party with strong foundation, we have been here before as a party and came out even stronger, we need to stay focus even as we begin the healing process to identify the cause of our failure and rebuild this party” He said.

The General Overseer of Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), Reverend Ransford Obeng has admonished Ghanaians to enter into the new year with an attitude of honesty in all they do.
This, he said, would enable the people to treat themselves well and push the country forward with unbridled honesty.
Reverend Ransford Obeng, Founder of Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC)
Speaking to the media at Ayigya Tuesday night after the church’s first service climaxing the year 2024 and to usher in the new year of 2025, Reverend Obeng said one of the issues that stands against prosperity of nations is dishonesty.
“As we enter into the new year all that i am asking Ghanaians is for them to deal honestly with themselves so that nobody is shortchanged in what they deserve or have worked for”, the CCC General Overseer stated.
Corruption:
The CCC leader noted that corruption has become endemic in the Ghanaian society.
This attitude, he stated is displayed by Pastors, politicians and people in public offices as well as in private outfits.
Such behaviours like bribery, extortion, under-invoicing, petty thievery and dishonesty denies the country the kind of progress it deserves, Rev Obeng decried.
“Most times people think only politicians are corrupt but Pastors and some persons in authority especially public and in private places dupe people, steal and extort from them but the earlier we shun these attitudes the faster Ghana can grow to become the kind we yearn to see”, the CCC vision- carrier advised.
Support For New Government:
Reverend Obeng urged the public to support the incoming NDC government with prayer, hard work and good attitudes for it to succeed.
He also asked the population to be hard working and diligent in what they do, adding that God only blesses the work people do to enable them do well in life.
Prophecy:
The CCC leader cautioned the clergy to stick to the mandate of their call by proclaiming only the good news of Christ Jesus but not to dabble in political prophecies that ruin the hearts of men.
“Our mandate as men of God is clear, we are to consciously and intentionally preach Christ Jesus to our congregation and the population since it is only by accepting Jesus as our Saviour can we live fulfilled lives”, Reverend Obeng stressed.By Michael Ofosu-Afriyie

In an effort to increase rice production in Ghana, farmers in Sefwi Afere, located in the Sefwi Bodi District of the Western North Region, have received training in cutting-edge rice production techniques by the Climate-Resilient Rice Production in West Africa (RICOWAS) Project.
This project, funded by the Adaptation Fund and led by the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS) in partnership with the CSIR-Crops Research Institute and supported by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), aims
to improve rice production in Ghana by implementing Climate-Resilient Strategies. The focus is on empowering farmers, promoting the use of System of Rice Intensification, and Climate Resilient Rice Production practices to enhance rice productivity in five Regions: Ashanti, Volta, Oti, Western, and Western North.
The targeted twenty municipalities and districts include Asante Akim South, Asante Akim North, Juabeng, Atwima Mponua, Atwima Nwabiagya, Tepa, Afajato South, Hohoe Municipal, Ho Municipal, Akatsi North, North Torngu, Ketu North, Jasikan, Biakoye, Sefwi Wiawso, Bia West, Sefwi Bodi, Sharma, Tarkwa and Wassa Amanfi West.
During a field day training session at Sefwi Afere, the project coordinator Dr. Stephen Yeboah and other team members, Dr. Agbesi Keteku and Mr. William Lelabi Kota emphasized that the initiative aims to increase rice productivity, promote sustainable agricultural practices and empower farmers to build resilience to climate change, ensure economic viability, and enhance community adaptability.
“We came to Bodi for the RICOWAS Project. The RICOWAS Project promotes Climate- Resilient Rice Production where different technologies are put into a package to help farmers increase their production.” Kota stated.
According to Dr Keteku, the aim of the project is to increase rice yield by at least 30%, reduce the cost of production and sustain rice productivity.
Farmers can get a lot from their production if they adopt the System of Rice Intensification technology. This will help reduce the importation of rice into the country and increase local rice production.
Three improved and Climate-Resilient Rice Varieties – CRI-Enapa, CRI-Agyapa, and CRI-Korea Mo were introduced to farmers to integrate with the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) technology. The farmers preferred rice variety CRI-Agra was used for the comparison. The SRI fields were established alongside the Farmers practice fields for easy comparison. The farmers participatory approach was used to facilitate effective knowledge transfer and adoption.
The Sefwi Afere farmers welcomed the introduction of new rice varieties, expressing optimism that the modern farming techniques will significantly boost their yields.
However, they voiced concerns about the scarcity of essential inputs, hindering their ability to scale up production. The farmers urged the Ghanaian government to support them with critical machinery, including: – Combine harvesters, Power tillers, Seed drills, Transplanters, and Irrigation dams among others.
“We’re more than 3000 rice farmers in this community. Our challenges are the lack of combine harvesters, power tillers, seed drills, transplants, irrigation dams etc. So we’re pleading with the government for assistance. We have a large land for rice production because we did not use it for Galamsey, (illegal mining) so the government should construct dams for us.” Mr Emmanuel Bennie, Rice Farmers Chairman of Sefwi Bodi appealed.
Some critics are saying that, NPP lost most of the Akan Regions because we presented Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is a Non-Akan. This can best be described as an empty emotional analysis without facts and data.
For the record :
In 1992, NPP presented Prof. Albert Adu Boahen (an Akan Candidate coming from Ashanti & Eastern Regions) yet NPP won only ONE Region, the Ashanti Region out of the 10 Regions with national Presidential outlook of 30.29%.
Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife
In 1996, NPP presented John Agyekum Kufuor (an Akan Candidate coming from the Ashanti Region) yet NPP won only ONE Region, the Ashanti Region out of the 10 Regions with national Presidential outlook of 39.67%.
In 2008, Nana Akufo-Addo was presented by NPP (an Akan Candidate coming from Eastern Region) yet NPP won only TWO Regions out of 10 Regions (Ashanti and Eastern Regions) with national Presidential outlook of 49.13% and 49.77% respectively for 1st Round and 2nd Round.
Dr Raza KoJo Opoku
In 2012, NPP presented Nana Akufo-Addo again (an Akan Candidate coming from Eastern Region) yet NPP won only TWO Regions out of 10 Regions (Ashanti and Eastern Regions) with national Presidential outlook of 47.74%.
In 2024, NPP for the first time presented Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (a Non-Akan Muslim Candidate) and the Party has managed to win only THREE Regions out of 16 Regions (Ashanti, Eastern, and North East Region), and suddenly some people within NPP are emotionally giving us wrong sermons that the Non-Akan Muslim background of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the cause of NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election in some Akan Regions. That narrative sincerely lacks merit and logical reasoning.
Simple questions for critics:
Did all southerners and Akans vote for Prof. Mills in 2000 and 2004?
Did all southerners and Akans vote for Prof. Albert Adu Boahen in 1992?
Did all southerners and Akans vote for Kufuor in 1996?
Did all southerners and Akans vote for Nana Akufo-Addo in 2008 and 2012?
Therefore, the arguments that, NPP lost some of the Akan dominanted Regions because of the Non-Akan background of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is completely FALSE.
Our defeat in 2024 is based on several factors including some “self-seeking elements” within Bawumia/Napo Campaign Team but we will deal with them later from 2025.
Some Constituency organizers of the National Democratic congress in the Ashanti Region have expressed appreciation to the President Elect John Dramani Mahama and Chief Alexander Mould for the selfless effort they put up during the electioneering strategy and campaign in the Ashanti region . A reflection they noted had contributed to the recent electoral gains by the party in the region .
An action that makes the group extend their deepest gratitude to Hon. Alexander Mould for his innovative approach to election preparedness aside other support he gave to most constituencies in the region.
Alex Mould
* His carefully designed stimulation exercise, which simulated the electoral process, yielded impressive results, demonstrating the power of strategic planning and hands-on training and collaborative effort.
A Catalyst for Change
The exercise, which took place in Manhyia South, Bantama, and Kwabre East constituencies, brought together polling station agents, ward collation officials, and pink sheet collectors. Through this initiative, Hon. Mould’s team provided participants with practical experience, empowering them to navigate the electoral process with confidence and precision.
The stimulation exercise was designed to mimic the actual electoral process, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the procedures, identify potential challenges, and develop effective solutions. This proactive approach has significantly enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of our electoral processes, ensuring that our party is well-prepared to participate in future elections.
A New Era of Possibilities
stressing that the statistical data speaks for itself, demonstrating the impact of Hon. Mould’s initiative:
In Manhyia South, NDC’s share of the vote increased from 15.87% in 2020 to 20.51% in 2024, representing a significant gain of 4.64 percentage points.
– In Bantama, NDC’s vote share rose from 13.45% in 2020 to 19.08% in 2024, marking an impressive increase of 5.63 percentage points.

These remarkable gains are a testament to Hon. Mould’s visionary leadership, his commitment to strengthening our democratic processes, and his dedication to empowering our party members.
A Call to Action
As we celebrate these achievements, we are reminded that our work is far from over.
Hon. Alexander Mould’s unquantifiable donations of party T-shirts, financial assistances, numerous brand new motorcycles, physical presence to campaign, and many more yielded positive outcomes and indelible impact. An affable man indeed, who never left us in-need. We forever wish him well.Such a great persona,so much cherished and loved, his works speak, not only just words.
We, the undersigned Party Organisers {ORGANIZATIONAL DEPARTMENTS} of the various constituencies named, are very much grateful to his invaluable works, which made our various duties easy, achievable and won us gigantic votes in Ashanti Region.

” it is our plea that in the wisdom of the appointing authorities should kindly consider the likes of those who spent time and resources in helping direct the region which yielded positive results not those exaggerated their role in the region with no impact”
For the interest of the party and us, the field operators of the party, any attempt to smuggle in unknown elements in the name of the region will aggressively resisted….

A recent publication, widely attributed to the Ghana News Online and circulated by various media outlets, including MyJoyOnline Adom TVNhyira 104.5 FM ,Ghana News Online and _My Blog Pay,has falsely claimed that the Human Rights Court declared New Nation School’s treatment of students as harsh. This report suggests that the court found the school guilty of excessively harsh treatment and violating students’ rights to freedom of expression.
However, after reviewing the court’s ruling, it’s clear that this publication is not only misleading but also a complete misrepresentation of the facts. Here are the Key Facts from the Court Ruling:
New Nation School Was Not Found Guilty of Harsh Treatment: The Human Rights Court ruled in favor of New Nation School, dismissing allegations of unlawful disciplinary measures. The court validated the school’s actions as being within its rights to enforce discipline.
– Students’ Freedom of Expression Was Not Violated: The court concluded that the disciplinary actions taken by the school did not infringe upon students’ freedom of expression. Instead, the court emphasized that the school acted to maintain discipline and safeguard its reputation.
– Misrepresentation of the Court’s Findings: The report selectively quoted parts of the judgment, ignoring the broader context and ultimate conclusion of the case. This creates a false impression of wrongdoing by the school.
At New Nation School, we remain committed to providing quality education within a disciplined framework. We understand the importance of fostering responsible behavior while ensuring our disciplinary measures align with legal and ethical standards.
We urge the public to disregard the erroneous reports and rely on accurate information regarding the court’s ruling. We’re available to engage with anyone seeking clarification or further information on this matter.
By setting the record straight, we hope to restore confidence in the integrity of New Nation School. We appreciate your support in maintaining the high standards that have become synonymous with our institution.
Signed,
Dr. Esther Onah
Director & Spokesperson for New Nation School
There was great joy when a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation, organised Christmas party for 52 orphans at Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation in the Bekwai municipality.

The party, which was held at Kwamang-Abesewa Methodist Church near Asante Bekwai, was solely organised by Akosua Aba Yaw Foundation, an organisation purposely set up to provide help to less-privileged learners in various communities.

Before the dinner, the children were entertained with a variety of activities including pick & act, dancing competition, tag of peace, etc. led by the team members of the foundation.
The executives & members of the foundation, including the chiefs and elders in the area, dined with the orphans to put smiles on their faces in line with the motto of the foundation – Put a smile on a child’s face.

There was much to eat and drink by both the children and their caregivers, as well as community leaders, who were present to grace the event.
Besides, the Founder of Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation,Mr. Isaac Aning aka Akosua Ba Yaw, donated some cash amount for 20 bags of cement to support a project initiated by Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation aimed at providing accommodation for orphans.
Through brother Kay, the Church of Pentecost
Columbus North, Ohio, US, also donated boxes of clothes to the orphans.
Through Winnifred Boateng,
Principle community health nurse (AACMH), the team also donated mosquito nets as well as earlier donation of 20 bags of cement by Prophetess Josephine Badu, Founder of Heaven Ministry.
The official presentation was done by Prophetess Josephine Badu, the Founder of Heaven Ministry, on behalf of Akosua Aba Yaw, who is currently outside the country.
All the children were also given Christmas hats by Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation to have real feelings for the Christmas celebration.
Prophetess Josephine Badu making presentation to Mr.Emmanuel Adade, the founder of Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation
The Founder of Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation, Mr. Adade Emmanuel, Nana Bobbie II Bekwai-Bremang, as well as Nana Kwaku Bonsu, the Kontihene of the area, highly praised Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation for the kind gesture.
They prayed for long life with good health for the foundation’s founder and his team members.
Mr. Adade said the Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation, as the name depicts, was established about six years ago to help take away children, especially orphans from the streets and support them. Two years ago, Akosua Ba Yaw visited them and realised that their living conditions had improved.
In his statement, Mr Isaac Aning aka Akosua Ba Yaw, a teacher and philanthropist, recounted that during his
teaching journey at Nkwantapon community in the Bosome Freho district, specifically at
Nkwantapong DA primary, Asiwa, he identified the problems the pupils in the area were going through.
Mr.Isaac Aning aka Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation
According to him, most of the pupils were coming to school with an empty
stomach which impaired their concentration during contact hours.
This, he noted, affected their academic performance.
“What was happening was that, during break time, some of these kids would go home and cook, and they never came back to school; we couldn’t punish them the next day,” he added.
He continued, “It was worrisome so I tried to find out why? I realised that most of these kids lived with their old age grandmothers.”
The community was/is a galamsey community where strangers from different parts of the country came and slept with the women, got some pregnant, but the next day they were no where to be found. Also, a number of the kids had lost their fathers through galamsey activities, whilst their mothers had abandoned them to seek greener pastures.
“So I asked myself, what can I do to assist them?
“I decided to speak to some people to assist me to feed these kids. Mr. John Adu Poku, CEO of John Adu Poku Foundation, accepted the proposal and we began feeding the kids. This gesture resulted in massive improvement in school attendance and studies,” he recounted.
Some scenes from the Christmas party
Mr. Isaac Aning, who named the foundation after his late mother, said he identified illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, hunger and lack of school uniforms as the major causes of the low attendance of the pupils to school.
And to help address the issues, he decided to launch and adopt the following interventions:
1.” Yoghurt day”
I was buying them Yoghurt every Friday for them in order to influence them to come to school from Monday to Friday.
“Let’s clothe them” was also launched. I decided to give them school uniforms from my own pocket…
Some scenes from the event
Through that, I got help to give them house wears. I was giving house dress too.
I then realised they were coming to school.. but hungry. I gave them money for food.
When I was teaching in class the next day, I threw a question to a girl in class and she was behaving in a weird manner. She told me she ate nothing before coming to school.
So I spoke to a friend and dad (Mr John Adu Poku) to help me feed these kids…
3.”LET’S FEED THEM ”
Then we employed a woman to cook for them and we paid her every month…
” NO more Kyale” was launched when I realised they came to school with “kyale wate ” and shoes in a bad state, and it reminded me of my school days.
Then I planned buying them some affordable shoes…every week when I came on weekends..so by the end of the term each of them would have something decent to wear
Motivation:
In my junior high school days when we were about to complete school in 2005 ..We took a group picture and I was rejected and embarrassed because of the state of my shoes ..
So I had to borrow my junior’s shoe to wear and snap the picture and give it back..
Yearly programme
“From 2018, we decided to climax everything we are doing for humanity with parties, health screening, community engagement, etc. The 2024 edition is our visit to an orphanage in Bekwai on 27th December 2024,” he concluded.
The Founder of Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation, a non-for-profit organisation at Bekwai-Bremang, Mr. Emmanuel Adade, has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians, international and local institutions, churches and individuals to come to the aide of the foundation to complete an accommodation project for orphans.
A group photograph after the Christmas party
The project is now at the roofing level and in dire need of urgent support.
He said the Chief of the area, Nana Bobbie II, released a parcel of land for the foundation to enable it to get a befitting place for the orphans, who are currently staying in the homes of their guardians.
The kids enjoying their meals
Mr Adade made the appeal on Friday, 27th December 2024, when Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation, an organisation purposely set up to provide help to less-privileged learners in the various communities organized Christmas party for the orphans at Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation.
The current state of the accommodation project for the Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation orphans
The foundation organised a Christmas party for 52 orphans at Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation in the Bremang-Abresewa in the Asante Bekwai municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The founder of Onipa Hia Mmoa foundation stressed “we’re in dire need of Cement, roofing sheets, nails, among other materials, for the project.”
Nana Bobbie II, the Chief of Bekwai-Bremang and Nana Kwaku Bonsu, the kontihene of the area, added their voices to the appeal for support by the foundation to complete the accommodation project. The project is now at the roofing level and urgent support is needed to complete it.
According to Mr. Adade, even though guardians have been identified for the 52 orphans, his foundation still absorbs the children’s feeding, clothes, school fees, etc.
