The High Court in Accra has rendered moot an application for an injunction seeking to prevent organisers of the #DumsorMustStop vigil from converging at the Revolution Square, opposite the Jubilee House after it emerged that organisers have already amended their gathering point and route for the vigil.
In an earlier engagement with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, the conveners disagreed on the starting point for their protest.
The police later filed an injunction against them, stating that the location was close to a security installation.
In court on Friday, May 24, the case was withdrawn to accommodate the new amendment to the venue.
One of the convenors of the vigil, Selorm Dramani Dzramado told the media that they have decided to amend the venue for the vigil in consonance with the Public Order Act.
“We told the public why we chose the Revolution Square because it holds a certain historical significance and its proximity to the Presidency so the police insistence on us changing the venue, we complied with Article 41(i) of the Constitution which says that the citizens of Ghana must always cooperate with the lawful agencies in the maintenance of law and order to write a letter to the police to announce the change of venue and date.”
He added that the court is yet to give the green light for the vigil and that “there is going to be a meeting with the police and so this thing [processes for the vigil] is going to start afresh.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, has refuted claims that the NHIA is bankrupt.
Dr. Aboagye highlighted the robust financial position of the NHIA, indicating that the authority pays out between GH₵180 million and GH₵250 million monthly.
He noted that such a level of expenditure would not be possible if the NHIA were indeed bankrupt.
Dr. Dacosta Aboagye
Speaking on the JoyNews’ AM show, he stated that. “It can never be bankrupt; a scheme paying between one-hundred-and-eighty and two-hundred-and-fifty million can never be bankrupt, but there is also the case that the Ministry of Finance should release the funds to the NHIS: once we have constant release, then we would not have problems, and it is sustainable.”
In response to host Benjamin Akakpo’s inquiry about how often the Finance Ministry releases funds for its operations, Dr. Dacosta Aboagye stated that… “I was conferred about some few weeks ago, but I think…… we are waiting for them to do the releases, but I think they will; the Minister has actually assured me that.”
The CEO of NHIA reassured the public that NHIA’s funding will remain stable despite Ghana’s engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the upcoming election year.
Dr. Aboagye explained that the NHIA’s resources are not contingent upon the IMF’s financial support and that the NHIS is protected under the IMF’s social protection programme.
“At the end of the day, you are paying, and I am paying, so all we know is that our father does have money, and our father should release the money. I think social protection is very important; we cannot put the vulnerable in distress, and I believe that the ministry of finances would do the needful by releasing the funds to us. I have no doubt, obviously to doubt. I do not have any doubt that they would obviously release the funds to us to make the payments.”Source: Isaac Kafui Nyanyovor

Apostle Rexford Charles Amoah, the Senior Pastor and General Overseer of the Christ Ambassadors Baptist Ministries in Kumasi, has gone into hiding for sometime now.
The pastor, who is the Director of Ambassadors Bible College that has trained hundreds of pastors, has not been seen in recent times.
Apostle Rexford Charles Amoah
The senior pastor, who is also a royal of the Barekese stool in the Atwima Nwabiagya North district of the Ashanti Region, is a biological elder brother of Nana Amoapim Brenya 1, the Chief of Barekese.
Apostle Rexford Charles Amoah is also the Administrator of the Barekese Palace. In retrospect, on 21st August 2022, a section of the Barekese youth held a barbaric demonstration against the chief and his elders who were celebrating Akwasidae festival inside the palace at Barekese.
The agitated youth kept his stool elders and family members hostage in the palace for hours which took the Ashanti regional police command to save the life of the chief.

Since the incident happened, the pastor, who is said to be the right hand man of the chief, has been receiving life-threatening calls from the agitated youth.
It is reported that some armed persons besieged his residence but he was not available. Since then, the renowned pastor has gone into hiding. It was alleged that he was hiding in Accra for his life but when contacted, his brother said he couldn’t disclose the current location of the man of God for security reasons.
All efforts to reach him on his phones proved futile as all his phones were off.
Even though the King of Ashanti, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, sat on the matter in October 2022 and ruled in favour of the chief and his family, the life-threatening messages and calls the man of God has been receiving have never ceased.
