A MESSAGE FROM NICHOLAS OSEI-WUSU aka KWADWO WUSU, ASPIRING ASSEMBLY MEMBER FOR THE NINTIN ELECTORAL AREA, MAMPONG MUNICIPLAITY AHEAD OF THE DEC. 19, 2023 DISTRICT LEVEL ELECTIONS
The Nintin Electoral Area is constituted by Nintin and Hwidiem within the Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti region.
Nintin, in particular, is the gateway to the Municipality and is located immediately after the famous Mampong Scarp from the Kumasi direction.
The two communities are predominantly subsistence farming. Their economic mainstay is petty trading and hawking along the main Kumasi-Mampong highway, predominated by banana.
This is the economic mainstay of the inhabitants especially the women folks whose main target market is the commuters and motorists who patronize the commodity during stopovers.
This gives the two communities an opportunity to create wealth and economic empowerment for the women to improve household incomes.
This is what I, Nicholas Osei-Wusu, if elected as the Assembly Member for the Electoral Area, plan to take advantage of to turn around the fortunes of the towns.
In this socio-economic plan, I intend to, with the cooperation and support of all interested individuals and groups, leverage on my media advantage to promote to become the destination of choice in Ghana for organic banana, just as Akomadan is associated with tomatoes.
It is anticipated that, if this deliberate plan succeeds, the women in particular, who trade in this commodity, would enjoy astronomical patronage from across the country to increase their sales and income.
Another issue of concern to me is the acute potable water supply challenge faced by both Nintin and Hwidiem.
Residents of these two towns currently buy water from Bosofuor close to Mampong, the Municipal capital, at very high cost-transportation inclusive.
Despite years of tests for borehole water, efforts have been unsuccessful at this exploration due to the low water table, even though the two towns are rocky and hilly.
For Nintin in particular, almost all the springs the inhabitants used to draw their water for domestic and other activities have become unusable for various reasons including drying up.
The unreliable water supply situation is negatively impacting economic activities, school attendance in the two towns as well as water borne diseases.
If elected, I plan to continue with the initial steps I took with some of the leaders of Nintin in seeking extension of pipe borne water from Mampong or seek any other viable alternative reliable water sources to serve the people.
I have as well identified poor sanitation as a major concern in especially Nintin such that open defecation is a common practice due to the lack of any decent alternative as against the obvious health and hygiene consequences thereof.
Nicolas Osei-Wusu
I will therefore intensify my plea with the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area Water and Sanitation programme towards addressing the problem in order to resolve the poor sanitation and environmental hygiene condition in the two towns.
Presently, residents of the two communities are battling a attacks by strange insects which bites are subtle but leave people with rashes and other uncomfortable skin conditions.
To address this health concern,
I will liaise with the Municipal Environmental Health Directorate as well as the Municipal Health Directorate to identify the actual causative issues with the view to tackling the root cause of this serious health concern of the people.
Importantly, as the delegate or representative of the Electoral Area at the Mampong Municipal Assembly,
I will try, as much as possible, to hold periodic meetings with the two communities and their opinion leaders, in accordance with the Local Government Act, to seek their views on issues to empower me sufficiently to participate in consideration of matters during Meetings of the Assembly. Similarly,
I will either meet with them or use the available Community Information Centres to share with them feedback from Meetings of the Assembly with the view to making the people active participants governance at the grass root level and in the decision and policy making processes.
Finally, I assure of adequate and equitable representation of both Nintin and Hwidiem but not to give undue advantage to any of the two towns constituting the electoral area.
This, I have already begun by using my electioneering campaign activities including messages on the campaign materials such as banners and posters to create awareness that the Electoral Area is made up of both Nintin and Hwidiem but not only one of them.
This is why I am extremely happy that, what I yearned for and pleaded with some traditional leaders in the course of my campaign, the two towns are equitably represented in the Unit Committee, unlike in previous elections and I hope to ride on this to pursue my development aspirations for the two communities.
As I have sent across during my campaign activities in churches and homes, all the five other Aspirants are qualified and have good intentions to lead as Assembly Members for the Nintin Electoral Area.
Some scenes from the Area
However, in this particular time and situation, residents of Nintin and Hwidiem need to elect someone who has the connections and opportunity to mobilize resources from outside the cash-strapped Mampong Municipal Assembly towards addressing the myriad of socio-economic challenges of Nintin and Hwidiem.
And that is why I have offered myself at this particular time to help.
I pledge to serve the electorate in ‘Humility, Respect, Commitment, Selflessness and assurance of Hard Work’
I am Nicholas Osei-Wusu-No. 3 on the Ballot.

Mahama’s 24 hour economy policy is a clear indication he has no campaign message; Sir John’s rebuttal.
As the 2024 general elections draw closer and political activities heat up, it is so normal for our political landscape to be awashed with campaign messages of all kinds from all political parties.
However, it is not far-fetched for the Ghanaian voter to expect realistic and convincing policy alternatives from the opposition party under the leadership of former president John Mahama who doubles as the Flagbearer for the NDC, considering his political experience this far.
But contrary to the expectations of the Ghanaian voter, it is so intriguing that former president Mahama is still demonstrating that he and the NDC have no campaign message going into elections 2024.
I have taken keen interest in Mahama’s 24 hour economy policy propositions vis-a-vis all the discussions it has generated in our air space over the period and it has confirmed my worst fear that the NDC has no message for Ghanaians ahead of 2024 and they are just using populist means to woo the Ghanaian voter.
Sir John John Dramani Mahama
In 2016, the people of Ghana ousted from Office the ineffective John Mahama, whose presidency had plunged the country into severe poverty, misery, and rampant corruption. Mahama infamously claimed that he was not a magician to create jobs overnight. It was during his tenure that Ghanaians coined the term “dumsor,” as a result of the incessant power outages that plagued the nation all through the NDC’s eight year tenure.
Under Mahama’s leadership, every sector of the economy was in disarray. His failures resulted in the cancellation of training allowances for training colleges and a significant freeze in public sector employment and promotions while the private sector kept shrinking.
These were just a few of the reasons why Ghanaians showed Mahama the exit and welcomed the competent Nana Addo and Bawumia government which from the very outset aimed at restoring the Ghanaian economy.
It is however worthy of mentioning that despite the global crises, the NPP government has successfully resolved the power crisis, significantly reduced unemployment, and reinstated training allowances for teachers and nurses and have successfully offered free education to all senior high school students nationwide.
Moreover, various sectors, of the economy including the industrial sector, have experienced substantial growth and revitalisation to provide more opportunities and jobs for Ghanaians. A prime example of this progress is the success of Eku juice, produced by the Ekumfi juice factory under the capable leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia led NPP administration.
Interestingly, John Mahama still believes that Ghanaians have short memories and can be deceived. As expected, he has begun his campaign with empty promises and catchy slogans. One of his claims and the most famous of his campaign messages is the policy proposition to transition the Ghanaian economy into a 24-hour economy.
However, this promise is already running in some sectors of the nation and so it is not and cannot be the game changer for the NDC.
Several sectors of the economy including the health services and transport services, already operate on a 24-hour basis.
Additionally, Ghana’s security services have long operated a 24-hour system in the country.
So, one must question which 24-hour economy Mahama is referring to. The truth is that he has nothing substantial to offer but empty rhetorics.
During his term, Mahama promised heaven but delivered hell. Ghanaians have become more discerning and can see through his empty promises.
The 24-hour economy policy is a clear indication he has nothing new to offer, as he merely rehashes existing policies in an attempt to gain undeserved attention and credit from the unsuspecting masses.
Now is the time for us to come together and enlighten the Ghanaian people about Mahama’s desperation and his inclination to resort to his usual fabrications and empty promises in order to deceive the masses.
Ghanaians have already experienced effective leadership under the Nana-Bawumia regime in spite of the challenges posed by the COVID 19 global pandemic, Russia-Ukraine and the global financial crisis..
Ghanaians will not be swayed by any catchy slogans from John Mahama and his deceptive NDC cohorts. It is important to recognize that the 24-hour campaign remains stagnant and lacks any real substance.
End!

The Assembly Member for the Kumawu-Dadease Electoral Area in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region, Hon. Kofi Adade, who doubles as a senior reporter with Oyerepa 100.7 FM/TV in Kumasi, has showcased his support for his community for the past 20 years.
According to him, the community has benefited massively from him and he has every reason to seek re-election come Tuesday,19th December,2023 District level elections.
The journalist cum assembly member shared some of his achievements to The New Trust Newspaper in an interview.
According to him,his first term as Assembly Member has witnessed unprecedented achievements as compared to all those who have had opportunity to serve as their representatives at the Assembly.
“I have achieved a lot for my Community by providing five(5) mechanized boreholes for Kumawu Dadease among other interventions’.
Hon Kofi Adade, said through the District Chief Executive ( DCE) for the area,Hon.Samuel Addai Agyakum, they have converted one borehole to a mechanized potable water with the help of Lawyer Edward Osei Kofi.
He lamented that since 1985 until 2019,he became Assembly Member to lobby for the provision of the mechanized boreholes, the community members were using hand dug boreholes (manpower) .
He, therefore, appealed to the electorates to vote for him in the upcoming assembly elections to help him to continue his good work for the electoral area.
It would be recalled that,Hon.Kofi Adade who is highly tipped to be elected for the second term shared his achievements on various social media platforms.
The post reads:
“I, Hon. Kofi Adade, the assembly member for the Dadease Electoral Area has supported my people in many ways of development, especially in the areas of health and education.
In the year 2012, the people of Kumawu Dadease were suffering from Hepatitis B which was killing them and I spoke to some doctors who came and assisted them with screening and medication.
Currently, the Kumawu-Dadease Electoral Area is free from the Killer disease – Hepatitis B.
In 2014, I provided 17 computers to Dadease Agric Senior High School and 20 laptops to Dadease basic schools to improve technological education in the community.
I also support the pupils with learning materials which include mathematical sets, pens, pencils, chop boxes, exercise books and many other materials to assist parents in caring for their children as part of improving education in the area.
I also lobbied and supported the community in getting electricity meters to prevent overloading of meters.
This is just to mention but a few. I wish to encourage everyone to help his or community in every aspect of his strength.
Former President, John Mahama has responded once again to critics of his campaign promise of a 24-hour economy.
While acknowledging that some institutions are already operating around the clock, he emphasised that a future NDC government would facilitate this approach for all.
The ruling NPP continues to assert that the 24-hour economy promise is already being implemented by some institutions, downplaying its impact.
However, Mr. Mahama argues that the policy, providing necessary resources and incentives for interested institutions, will make it easier for everyone to participate.
He expressed these views during a meeting with party executives in the Western-North Region as part of his two-day “Building Ghana Tour” in the region.
John Dramani Mahama
The former President believes it will take the NDC to rescue the Ghanaian economy which he believes has fallen in a ditch.
He indicated plans to salvage the economy will be outdoored early next year.
Mr Mahama is also preaching unity among supporters of the National Democratic Congress as the party seeks a comeback to power.
He believes a visit to his contender in the party presidential primary, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, sets a good example for all to follow.Source: Myjoyonline.com
Nii Ayikoi Otoo, former Attorney General under the Kufuor administration, has advised the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to file appeals instead of holding press conferences to criticize judges’ dismissive rulings in corruption cases.
His comments come in response to the OSP’s recent expression of concern over the increasing trend of such rulings, which it fears could hinder the fight against corruption.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, November 29, Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng expressed alarm at the “growing hasty dismissiveness and lack of regard” for corruption cases, which he believes could severely impede the OSP’s ability to fulfil its mandate.
Nii Ayikoi Otoo
Mr Agyebeng highlighted four specific cases that exemplified this trend, including the acquittal of Cecilia Dapaah, a former government official, in a corruption case and the refusal of a court order to freeze the estate of former NPP General Secretary, Kojo Owusu Afriyie, despite mounting allegations of corruption against his estate.
Speaking in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Tuesday, Mr Ayikoi Otoo said “To me, I do not think that it is necessary for him to lament and to hold press conferences. I mean when a lawyer goes to court and he loses a case, if you believe strongly that the judges committed errors in coming to that conclusion, all you need to do is to file an appeal.”
He added, “He (Special Prosecutor) is completely wrong, he should have done that…Instead of going on appeal, you sit and cry to a press. What does he want the press to do for him? That is very disappointing on his part.”
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, during proceedings in Parliament on Tuesday, stated that the law establishing the OSP was an act of futility.Source:Abigail Arthur
The former Chairman for the Association of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairmen in the Ashanti Region, who doubles as the former Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has revealed that the governing NPP is working behind the scenes to fix all challenges resulting from its internal elections to enable it to break the 8 in the 2024 general election.
According to him, it’s possible for the NPP, led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to beat former President John Dramani Mahama with over one million votes difference.
“We’re determined to win the 2024 polls with a landslide to the extent that Mahama, with NDC, won’t have any cause to complain as he is fond of doing,” he pointed out.
Therefore, COKA, as he is affectionately called, is calling on the rank and file of the NPP to put behind them their differences as a result of the internal primaries from the polling station level to the selection of the flagbearer for the 2024 polls. “We seriously need everyone on board to make breaking the 8 easy. I can tell you that God has given NPP victory in 2024 and what we (NPP members) need is to fix our things well,” he added.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah made the call in an exclusive interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on “Sompa TV”, a Kumasi-based local station on Tuesday,12th December 2024. It was also broadcast live on “Sompa 93.1 FM”.
According to him, Mr Mahama and NDC have nothing new to offer Ghanaians. He, therefore, cautioned the electorate not to allow themselves to be scammed or deceived into voting for Mr Mahama.
He said the NPP government, led by Nana Akufo-Akufo, had done a lot “but there is still challenges we’re working hard to fix.”
Contrary to some people’s perception that COKA has something against the incumbent Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Mr Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, he stated emphatically, “I hold nothing against Chairman Wontumi.”
“We’re all working together for the ultimate goal of helping Dr Bawumia to lead NPP to break the 8. I’m begging the rank and file of the party, especially party leaders from the polling station level to the national level, to reach out to all aggrieved or disgruntled members or sympathisers to avert any form of apathy ahead of the 2024 polls,” he pleaded.
Dr Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama
According to him, politics is all about numbers, for which reason everyone is seriously needed on board.
“Let’s all be humble and talk to all those who are aggrieved, especially supporters of unsuccessful flagbearer hopefuls, including Mr Alan Kyeremanten, to help bring all of them back,” he stressed.
He hinted that those in the Ashanti Region were working hard to help NPP and Dr Bawumia win about 80 per cent of the votes in the 2024 presidential election.
He stated that there’s no way NPP would sit down for Mr Mahama and NDC to get about 28 per cent of the Ashanti Region votes. “We’re all aware that every time NDC gets about 28 per cent of votes from the Ashanti Region, NPP loses the general election,” he noted.
COKA stressed “that is why I’m pleading with the NPP Flagbearer and Leader, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to choose his running mate from the Ashanti Region. Per our constitution, Dr Bawumia has been given the mandate to choose someone as his running mate in consultation with the party leadership.”
“But we also have the right to make suggestions for his consideration. We don’t just want a running mate but someone who appeals to voters. Running mate is about numbers,” he added.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah emphasised the need for Ghanaians to continue to coexist by doing away with religious and ethnic conflicts, adding that the 2024 general election is not about religious or ethnic conflict.
“We need to vote massively for Dr Bawumia to continue the good work being done by President Akufo-Akufo to the benefits of all Ghanaians,” he appealed to Ghanaians.
He cautioned Ghanaians, especially those in the Ashanti Region, not to repeat the 2008 mistake of voting out NPP only to regret seriously for voting for NDC .
“Mahama has nothing new to offer Ghanaians and let’s not allow him to scam us again!” he warned.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah and Dr.Bawumia
He admitted that the country’s economy is facing some challenges but the NPP government has done a lot across the country.
“I can’t say that the NPP government has met all the expectations of all Ghanaians, but NPP is far better than NDC. Mahama’s 24-hour economy is all about demand and supply.
“Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has maintained that it’s possible, and I believe the 24-hour economy is only possible under NPP, not under Mahama and NDC who have a bad track record in the energy sector,” he pointed out.
He said Mahama needed to come back again on his 24-hour economy because the need for sustainable market, raw materials, energy supply, provision of security, among other factors, is very important as far the implementation of the 24-hour economy is concerned.
“Ahead of the 2024 polls, we won’t sit down for Mahama to just say anything to deceive people for votes,” he added.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), the former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman in the Ashanti Region, has made a passionate appeal to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer and Leader of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), to choose his running mate from the Ashanti Region for the 2024 general election.
According to him, the party stands to gain a lot by consolidating its base and winning more votes from the Ashanti Region if someone is selected from the region to partner Dr Bawumia.
Chairman COKA, as he is affectionately called, made the appeal in an exclusive interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Kumasi-based “Sompa TV” and “Sompa 93.1FM” on Tuesday,12th December 2023.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah said even though many names had come up for consideration as running mate to Dr Bawumia, the party needs someone who appeals to voters.
According to him, running mate is about numbers. “If you can’t mobilise support within and outside the party to complement that of the flagbearer, you have no business asking to be considered,” he added.
Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah ( COKA)
‘I’m pleading with Dr Bawumia and the leadership of the party to consider selecting someone from the Ashanti Region as running mate for 2024,” he appealed.
