Some supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency of the Ashanti Region have besieged the party office to register their protest against the purported intimidation of a parliamentary hopeful, Mr. Kwabena Asamoah.
The aggrieved NPP members at the Party Offices
According to the aggrieved supporters, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Finance and Administration at the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) was hauled before a disciplinary committee of the constituency, chaired by Mr. Kwame Owusu, for donating a set of hand-driers and cash to an association of hairdressers without issuing a prior notice to the party.
The supporters, therefore, challenged the decision of the committee to summon him, describing it as utterly ridiculous.

They alleged that the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Kobina Tahir Hammond, was scheming to scare off any potential aspirant ahead of the party’s parliamentary primaries in February 2024.
Calming the nerves of his supporters after appearing before the disciplinary committee, Mr. Asamoah disclosed that the committee had cleared him of any wrongdoing.
According to him, the meeting was very cordial, hence he urged his followers to remain calm and throw their support behind the party as a united force in their quest to break the 8 in the 2024 general election.Dource: Ernest Best Anane, Adansi Asokwa

The witches and wizards in Africa only celebrate bad news; someone is in prison, lost a family member, what to eat is a problem and the likes and these make them happy.
Buy a new car, house, shop and the likes and nobody will celebrate you for your hard work.
It is because of jealousy. Because of that we always celebrate and discuss failure.

The Chief of Kwapra in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Baafuor Adu Gyamfi Kumanin, has expressed his appreciation to his people for supporting him as he marks 47 years on the stool.
He said his plans and vision would have been in vain had it not been the full cooperation and support of his people, especially the subchiefs.
In an interview, Kwaprahene told this paper that the secret behind his success over the years is that his doors are widely opened to everyone regardless of tribal, political and regional differences.
According to him, he and his subchiefs uphold honesty, transparency and fairness, and when cases are brought before them, they apply these virtues.
On his achievements for being on the stool for 47 years, Kwaprahene revealed that he had done a proper layout for the town which had beautified the area.
Besides, he lobbied for the improvement of road networks during ex-President Mahama’s regime in which the road from Kronum – Kwapra Wisdom was asphalted.
Baafuor Adu Gyamfi Kumanin
The drainage system for that portion of the road had already been constructed during the tenure of former President Kufuor.
According to him, a clinic has been constructed by the Ghana National Petroleum Company under the Akufo-Addo administration which the Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for the area, played an instrumental role before the commencement of the project.
Baafuor Adu Gyamfi Kumanin announced that he had also released land for the construction of Kronum Police Station; a portion of the land falls under him.
Kwaprahene urged his people to continue to support him, so that he could do more for them. He also appealed to the government to come to their aid by asphalting Kwapra roads, since they have developed potholes, making life uncomfortable for them.
The Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appealed to every household in the Ashanti Region to donate GH¢200 a month towards the renovation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The project, dubbed: “Heal Komfo Anokye”, is being spearheaded by the King to mobilise $10 million to fully renovate the 70-year-old facility.
In the King’s address at the official launch of the Asantehene’s fundraising campaign in aid of the renovation of KATH old blocks as part of the legacy projects to mark the 25th anniversary of his enstoolment, His Royal Majesty bemoaned the sorry state of the Teaching Hospital.
He, therefore, implored all residents of the Ashanti Region to show commitment to assist the renovation drive of the facility by donating money periodically.
“I’m appealing to my subjects and residents of this region that if every household donates at least GH¢200 a month towards this project, we will be able to successfully renovate the hospital. Komfo Anokye whom the hospital was named after never got ill, so why should we sit unconcerned for the hospital that has healed many be deemed as sick, needing healing?
“When our health deteriorates, this is where we will all be brought to. It is our duty to heal Komfo Anokye. I have built my Kingdom collectively with foreigners, so I ask all to come and assist me to heal Komfo Anokye,” he appealed.
Otumfuo further entreated Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Ashanti Region led by the Ashanti caucus present at the event to make a personal endeavour to lead the mobilisation of funds from their constituents for the renovation of the hospital.
“Members of Parliament (MPs) here should pay attention to the Ashanti Region. You’re becoming too preoccupied with Accra issues. You seem to prefer Accra. Stop the cheap popularity and pay attention to the development of the Ashanti Region. Lead the charge and collect the monies from your constituents to support this project. Muntaka, you’ll take money for me, and so will you all,” Otumfuo stressed.
The committee in charge of the fundraising drive has set aside Fidelity Bank account number 2400302340016 for persons willing to donate to support the project.
Also, potential donors can use the short code 7761955# (for all networks), MTN Mobile Money number 0544195525, and Merchant ID 195525, to donate funds in support of the healing of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
A Professor of Political Science at the University of Ghana, Ransford Gyampo, has said it will be a difficult task for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to break the 8, having elected Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as its flagbearer for the 2024 general election.
Prof. Gyampo made this comment over the weekend on _Keypoints_ , a _TV3_ weekly programme. He stated, “The election of Dr. Bawumia as flagbearer of the NPP presents a certain uphill task in the party’s attempt to break the 8. I’m not saying it cannot be done, but it’s difficult.”
He said if he disaggregated the 61% Dr. Bawumia garnered from the NPP presidential primaries, one could see the contributions of President Akufo-Addo and the machinery of government to the figure. The influence of Dr. Bawumia might have contributed to 50%.
He added that the 61% shows that the Vice-President doesn’t have much support even among his own party base, for which reason it would be difficult for him to win the 2024 presidential election.
The outspoken professor proposed three things Dr. Bawumia should do which may endear him to the Ghanaian electorate.
Firstly, he said Dr. Bawumia should be able to tout his own track records in a manner that sounds convincing to Ghanaians.
“Secondly, he must be able to tell us that there are things he cannot do today even though he promised to do them but when he is given the mandate, he’ll do them,” he said.
“Finally, he must be able to convince us that regarding our living conditions, things are better today than things were prior to 2016,” he added.
The political science professor stressed that the essence of governance is to solve problems and not to dance around problems, proffering explanations as to why the problems exist.
He indicated that we had been shortchanged as a people, comparing what was done previously to what is being done now. “It appears this regime is super incompetent compared to Mahama’s regime,” he said bluntly.
Prof. Gyampo stated that the banking sector clean-up exercise was done with super incompetence, adding that we don’t spend more to achieve little.
He also condemned the corruption in the Akufo-Addo administration and how the government had mismanaged the economy.
He pointed out that the current regime suffers from a severe trust deficit, adding that nobody in the regime can be trusted.
