Flagbearer aspirant of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyepong has discredited Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP, Bernard Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, for his childish comment meted out to John Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng.
According to him ,the rampant insults characterized by Chairman Wontumi on his Kumasi based TV station on big men in the NPP is gradually collapsing NPP as a political party.
Hon.Ken Agyapong addressing his supporters
“The intimidation in NPP is becoming too much,I’m daring Wontumi to continue his insults and I will show him that we have men in NPP.”
“Wontumi is just a small boy,he talks too much without making any sense. He thinks he is a man but he’s just a small boy to insult Alan Kyeremanteng.”He indicated.
“Wontumi is not the only person who has license to insult. We have equally important people who matters most in the party and Wontumi is not even one of them .
His insults will send NPP to opposition because his comments do not bring development to the party but only create enemies among members.
” I’m surprise about the silence on the part of our National executives for not responding to the unnecessary insults on Alan Kyeremanteng.
If NPP does not take care NPP will collapse because Alan Kyeremanteng matters most and he is very relevant in Ghana.
Hon Kennedy Agyepong made these comments when addressing party members in the Ashanti Region this morning.
One of the parliamentary candidate hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, Prof. Peter Twumasi, has urged the delegates of the party to choose a credible and trustworthy candidate to lead them to the 2024 general election.
Prof.Peter Twumasi interacting with EC officials during the tour
According to him, he is the best person to lead the party to victory in 2024.
Prof. Twumasi made the statement last Sunday during his visits to some churches at Mankraso, the district and constituency capital of the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency, as part of his tour.
The National Sports Authority (NSA) boss also visited many registration centres to monitor the ongoing voter’s registration exercise under the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to him, if the delegates are looking for a credible and reliable person to lead the people of the constituency, they should not reject him, adding that he stands tall among all the parliamentary candidate hopefuls.
Prof. Twumasi said apart from his credibility and other good attributes that make him the best candidate, he had been with the party since the beginning. “It is time for me to be rewarded by the delegates for my commitment and dedication to the NPP, the constituency, and the country at large,” he stressed.
He pointed out that he is not only credible and trustworthy but also the longest-serving member of the party who put down his life for the development of the constituency and the country, and it is time to reward him by choosing him to lead the NPP in the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency to help retain the seat in the 2024 elections.
He said when given the nod, he would use agro-business to change the constituency, hence the constituents should vote for him in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the party.

This is to accommodate prospective service personnel who are yet to complete their academic programmes.
The 2023/2024 National Service year will begin on Wednesday, 1st November 2023.
This was announced in a press statement signed by the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme, Osei Assibey Antwi, on Friday, September 29, 2023.
Management of the NSS in the statement indicated it does not support change of postings, and cautioned personnel to avoid getting in touch with faceless individuals or groups who claim to have the means to change postings.
Factionalism within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has become a growing concern, as highlighted by former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
In an interview with Accra-based TV3, Kufuor expressed his worries about the deep-seated factionalism that he has observed within the party.
He emphasized the need for the NPP to carefully assess its activities and stressed the importance of a strong commitment and dedication within the party.
Mr Kufuor mentioned that the sense of commitment he once felt within the NPP seems to have diminished over time.
He stressed the importance of practising proper democracy and inclusivity, instead of emphasizing factions within the party. According to Kufuor, focusing on factions at the constituency or national level leads to division and hinders cooperation.
Former President John Agyekum Kufour
“The way I feel it, I don’t sense the same strong commitment. I have likened commitment to almost a religion. I don’t sense that now. We are talking proper democracy, an inclusive one, you wouldn’t emphasize factions,” Mr Kufuor stated.
Kufuor’s remarks come at a time when the NPP is dealing with the resignation of a prominent member and former presidential aspirant, Alan Kyerematen.
However, John Boadu, the former General Secretary of the NPP, urged party members to remain focused and united despite Kyerematen’s departure. Boadu acknowledged his disagreement with the reasons given by Kyerematen but called for acceptance and respect of his decision.
The NPP will need to address the issue of factionalism and take into account the concerns raised by Kufuor and others in order to maintain party unity and work towards its objectives as the ruling party in Ghana.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is a good man. Yes, he is a good man. In the flagbearer elections campaign, Dr Bawumia is the most attacked, the most abused, the most vilified, the most disrespected, the most denigrated, and what and what, but he is still calm and very focused.
He has not been responding to his attackers and has not shown any sign of the same. I wonder how many of his competitors can do the same. Interestingly, those exhibiting such abusive attitudes against the Veep are the ones crying the most. How interesting it is. First, it was Alan’s supporters. Now it is Ken and his supporters, but Bawumia still remains calm.
They even are not ashamed to lie about the dead mother of the Veep. Really? It is shocking how politics can get us to even lose our respect for the dead. Let them continue, and they will lose and lose big and come and cry like hungry babies with no parents.
The reality is that NPP delegates know what time it is, and they choose their leaders recognizing the dynamics of the times and seasons.
Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia
I can understand the desperation and frustration in some of the aspirants, hence the needless attacks. But let it be told that their insults and attacks on the person of the Vice President and his family can not win them the elections. What didn’t we see or hear before the superdelegates and what happened?
I thought they said the Grassroots are for them? Why not go to them to campaign? Dr Bawumia is a serious campaigner.
Despite the clear signs on the wall, he has been busily focusing on his campaign and criss-crossing the country, sometimes traversing multiple regions in a day. Some people will not focus and be serious about their campaign but only insult, and when they lose, they say what!
The Minority in Parliament has expressed its opposition to the government’s plans to either collapse the National Investment Bank (NIB) or merge it with the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).
The government has been working over the years to merge ADB and NIB to create the National Development Bank due to the struggles of the two banks.
Addressing journalists in Parliament, Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Isaac Adongo, alleged that this plan is merely a smokescreen to sell off the two banks after their merger to government cronies as part of State capture efforts.
“It is clear that this is not about the interest of NIB. This is the last step towards passing through the back door to acquire NIB and ABD for themselves in a state capture,” he said on Thursday, September 28.
The Minority has asked the government to pay the debt owed to the bank and further proscribed measures that will make it viable.
“Government should just restructure the balance sheet of NIB to swap all the NIB debt that it owes to government and give government equity. Government says it doesn’t have money to capitalize the bank, but it has given 500 million debt to NIB, it has given 800 million debt… The two will give you 1.3 billion. It is your money. You owe the bank. The money is already sitting there. Commit to saying that this is my contributing towards capitalisation so that we issue shares to you and move the money to equity.
Hon.Isaac Adongo
Isaac Adongo said the move by the imminent collapse and subsequent acquisition by ADB will lead to the loss of about 800 jobs.
The MP further indicated that contractors NIB engaged to work on government projects are yet to be paid by the Finance Ministry.
“As a result of that, NIB has incurred 1 billion on its load books, resulting from Ken Ofori-Atta’s refusal to pay, now you say NIB is week.”Source: Myjoyonline.com
The People’s National Convention (PNC), has distanced itself from the forthcoming demonstration dubbed “OccupyBoG Demo” led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), some political parties as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs.
The General Secretary for PNC,Janet Asana Nabla made this known in a statement dated 28th Septmeber,2023 entitled “PNC IS NOT PART OF THE OCCUPY BANK DEMO”.
The full statement reads, “The People’s National Convention(PNC) attention has been drawn to a flyer with the Party’s logo trending on social media that claims the Party would participate in the occupy Bank Demo. The party is issuing a stern warning to the Organizers of the protest and demands that they remove the party’s name immediately from the flyer.
The PNC considers the Conveners’ decision to include the party on its flyer without first consulting the party as an act of disrespect.
If this happens once again, the party will bring legal action against the conveners”,the statement warned
Government is working on a policy framework to move public transportation from a dependence on petroleum fuels to electric vehicles, Vice President Bawumia has disclosed.
“Where I want to see us go in the next few years is to move public transport completely from a dependence on petrol and diesel to fully electric vehicles. That is really where Ghana ought to go. And it is doable.
We ought to move away from petrol and diesel to electric vehicles as a matter of policy,” Dr Bawumia stated on Wednesday September 27, 2023 when he visited the offices and assembly plant of Solar Taxi, a wholly Ghanaian start up engaged in the assembly and manufacture of electric cars, motorcycles, buses and battery packs for electric cars.
Among the top 3 Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing companies in Africa, Solar Taxi, founded in 2019, with a staff strength of 113 (90% of whom are women) and an average age of 26, can also convert petrol or diesel powered vehicles into electricity powered ones, with the technology to convert cars and buses also available, according to Jorge Appiah, CEO and Co-Founder. Solar taxi has assembled over 460 vehicles and sold over 500 vehicles, with orders for vehicles, battery packs and training in the maintenance of EVs coming from all over the continent.
Solar Taxi also operates a ride-hailing service, as well as a motorcycle leasing and vehicle sales model anchored on the Ghana Card. Through its bankers, the company provides financing options for its motorcycles, cars and buses, to be paid for over time, without collateral. All they require is a Ghanacard ID
Mr Appiah disclosed this while riding in one of the company’s EV buses, which can travel from Accra to Kumasi without need for a recharge of the batteries, with Vice President Bawumia and the heads of STC, Metro Mass, Aayalolo, as well as officials of the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Road Safety Commission.
Fuel, Transportation
“The whole issue of climate change, energy transition and moving away from dependence on fossil fuels to more green energy is very important for us because as you know, we spend a lot on fossil fuel. But the other thing that is very, very important for Ghanaian households and individuals is the high cost of transportation.
“If you look at the cost of transport in Ghana, there are two elements that dominate the pricing formula for transport: fuel and spare parts. Now, with what you are doing with electric vehicles generally, I mean, the fuel costs really becomes very minimal.
“And then because of the nature of the engines for electric vehicles, its very low maintenance. So with these two elements, you will reduce the cost of transport very significantly. So to deal with one of the aspects of the cost of living increase that Ghanaians are facing on a sustainable basis, we need to really, as a matter of policy, say that, look, let’s move away from the dependence on fossil fuels, petrol and diesel, to electric vehicles and make sure we can make it happen. Are the charging stations available? Let’s make it happen. It’s possible.”
TVET
Acknowledging that it may not be a “smooth transition,” Vice President Bawumia nevertheless argued that “the benefit for Ghana – lower prices of transport, savings on foreign exchange, job creation, opportunities to train – far outweigh any such challenges.
“For example, you could really help the TVET institutions design a curriculum in terms of EV maintenance and so on, because as we move and see more adoption of EVs, you’ll need more people who can maintain,” he suggested.
Pointing out that that the cost of fuel and transport are the two of the main drivers of inflation, in Ghana, with a rise in them having implications on other variables like the exchange rate, cost of food and utilities, Dr Bawumia commended the founders of Solar Taxi for their commitment to entrepreneurship.
“We as a country really have to believe that it is possible to leapfrog many of the advanced countries in the area of technology. In the area of electric vehicle manufacturing, I think we have a bit of a comparative advantage in Africa and in in Ghana compared to the more advanced countries.
“But what really will make it happen is people who have the ideas, who have the dedication like you, who have thought through this, who value chain in this whole enterprise.
You have been able to put something together. From our point of view as a country, we are very interested in your success. Very, very, very interested. And we are even more delighted that it is the youth who have taken up the mantle of entrepreneurship. We as government will collaborate with and provide the support you and others like you need to deal with any bottlenecks,” the Vice President assured.
