Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, says the party hasn’t given order for the posters and paraphernalia of Alan Kyerematen to be removed from its offices.
According to him, no such directive has come from the National Executives, so pleaded with the members and supporters to exercise restraint.
The party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako a.k.a ‘Chairman Wontumi’, in a memo following the resignation of Alan Kyerematen from the NPP, ordered the removal of all banners, flyers and paraphernalia belonging to John Alan Kyerematen from his Region.
“Once he has forfeited his membership, it is just right and fair that these items are removed from our offices.”
“In view of Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party, all his posters, banners, flyers and paraphernalia at our party offices in all the constituencies must be removed with immediate effect,” Chairman Wontumi said.
Reacting to order during an interview on UTV, Alan Kyerematen warned Chairman Wontumi to stop misbehaving towards him.
“I brought him into the NPP. He should be very careful in his utterances against me…When someone does you good, you don’t repay him with evil,” Alan said paraphrastically.
Commenting on the order to remove anything belonging to or bears Alan Kyerematen’s name, Nana Boakye stated emphatically on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” morning show that “we haven’t given such directive. This is a national issue and the directives will emanate from the national…At the national office, we have not done that”.
Independent presidential aspirant, Alan Kyerematen, has claimed that there are influential individuals within the Akufo-Addo-led administration who have more say than ministers.
Alan, who recently parted ways with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), further stated that the current state of affairs within both the government and the party deviates from the usual modus operandi of the NPP.
“Are you not aware or have you not heard there are people behind the curtain who have more influence in governance now than even ministers?… You have not heard about people behind the curtain who have significant influence and control in the party?” he said on September 27.
During an interview on Accra-based Citi TV, the founding member of the NPP questioned the role of these ‘behind the curtain’ individuals when the part was being established.
“When we started in 1992, where were they, the so-called behind-the-curtain people,” he quizzed.
Meanwhile, Alan Kyerematen has denied claims he presented an all-is-well posture to the NPP chairman, Stephen Ntim, in his last days with the party.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on JoyNews, the former NPP flagbearer aspirant stated that he had conversations with Mr Ntim on different occasions and highlighted the many things the party was doing wrong, but, his concerns despite an acknowledgment from the party chairman were left unresolved.
As such, Mr Kyerematen said that not only does he find the chairman’s claims that he had no issues with the party untrue, but also “disingenuous and it’s very unfortunate.”
“He’s a very good friend of mine. You are the chairman of a party. You come to me to ask whether I have any challenges with what is going on. I scope for you all the things I believe have been going wrong. I’ve had personal conversations with him before and he’s aware of that.”Source: Myjoyonline.com
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has urged members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to be distracted by any events in the party but should remain focused on winning next year’s elections.
Vice President Bawumia gave the advice when he interacted with party faithfuls on the sidelines of a visit to a Limited Voter Registration Centre in the Eastern Region on Wednesday, September 27.
He said the signs were clear that the party would record a remarkable victory in the December 2024 polls, hence the need to work hard and stay focused.
“I am happy that you have come out to meet me today for this important national exercise. It tells me that the party is very alive and very strong,” he stated.
“One of the things that we need to know as a party is that we are going to win the 2024 election. Do not have any doubt in your mind. We will have to work hard, no doubt, we will have to work hard, but it is possible to “Break the Eight.”
“We are going to break the 8 and will need all your efforts for us to break it. Let us keep focused as a party. Don’t be distracted by events. Stay focused on the main task, which is to break the 8.
“Let nobody distract us. We are going to win, so let nobody distract you. Focus, focus, focus on breaking the 8 in 2024. It is possible!” Dr Bawumia declared.
Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia interacting with EC officials and potential voters waiting to be registered.
The Vice President underscored the importance of the Limited Registration Exercise to Ghana’s democratic growth and commended the Electoral Commission for satisfactorily discharging its duties so far.
“It is very important that we get everyone who is eligible to vote, to come and register to vote in the upcoming District Assembly elections and the General Elections in 2024. We want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to register,” he emphasised.
Dr Bawumia, who has also visited Centres in the Greater Accra and Central regions, on Saturday, September 23 suspended his nationwide engagement with NPP delegates ahead of the party’s upcoming Presidential Primaries to enable the party concentrate fully on the registration exercise.
A fetish priest, Solomon Mbalegon, aged 62, allegedly murdered his 25-year-old junior wife, Madam Nakoli Mbalegon and committed suicide thereafter.
Mr. Mbalegon, also known as ‘Okomfo’ Solomon allegedly killed Mrs Mbalegon on Thursday night for alleged suspicion of infidelity at their home at Parambo, a suburb of Yeji, Pru East District of Bono East Region.
Mr. Yussif Sulemana, the Assemblyman for the area who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said Mr. Mbalegon suspected that his wife had been having extramarital affairs with other men in the area.
According to him, there was a misunderstanding between the couple which unfortunately led to te stabbing of the young wife. Mr Mbalegon committed suicide by stabbing himself too.
Mr Sulemana explained the incident had created shock and dismay in the community as residents did not expect that Mr Mbalegon could commit such “a heinous act”.

He therefore advised the residents to exercise restraint in approaching and dealing with marital issues of such nature to avert the loss of lives.
Mr. Sulemana added the Yeji Police have since arrested a suspect in connection with the crime to assist in investigations. He added that the bodies had since been deposited at the St. Mathias Catholic Hospital at Yeji for preservation.
A source at the Yeji Police Station who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the incident to the GNA, saying that it was under investigation.
Independent presidential aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, says his candidacy is set to make a case for why Ghana needs to be led by an independent candidate.
According to him, the current duopoly being enjoyed by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has provided the dividends necessary for the advancement of the state.
He said while it may seem Ghana is not yet ready for an independent candidate, the country is ready for a new kind of leadership that will advance the nation to a brighter future, and that will not be achieved under the duopoly.
“Oh it’s not about Ghanaians being ready for an independent candidate; it’s about making a case for an independent candidate. It’s about making a case for an independent candidate on the basis of what the current model has done for our country.
“As I’ve explained, we’ve had varying fortunes in terms of our own country’s advancement and development. In my considered opinion the duopoly has created more division in our politics than otherwise. Why do we want to continue on that tangent?
“ Why would you want to continue on that tangent? Why would you think that the results would be any different going forward with the same kind of model? So, like everything else, if it doesn’t work, you think outside the box,” he said in an exclusive with JoyNews at his Abelemkpe residence.
Alan Kyerematen argued that while an independent candidate winning the presidential elections in Ghana would be novel, it is nothing new in West Africa and certainly not impossible.
“By the way, this is not the first experience in Africa for example where you have an independent candidate becoming the president of a republic. In Benin close by, the current president, a very successful one came in as an independent candidate completely outside the existing parties.
Hon.Alan Kyeremanten
“In his case, in actual fact, he came from the business community. So it is not that it cannot be done. The fact that it has not been done in Ghana does not mean that it cannot be done and does not mean that that is what we need to do. So I’m making a case for it,” he said.
He admitted that while he has been a product and a key player of the duopoly he currently blames for Ghana’s stunted growth, his divorce and subsequent challenge of the system should be reason enough to earn the support of Ghanaians.
“But if you’re a product of the duopoly and the analysis suggests that the duopoly has not conveyed the kind of benefits that the duopoly should then the fact that somebody who has been part of the duopoly cannot be the agent for change, I’m trying to understand where the logic would be that because you’ve been part of a particular system you cannot be the change agent for another business model.
“There’s nothing to suggest that the fact that you’re part of a particular system that you cannot come out of the system to lead the change process.
“It doesn’t matter that you’ve been part of the system. If you can come out and be the agent of change because we’re looking at how do we improve our chances of advancement. The current system has not worked for us are you seeming to suggest that we should continue to do exactly the same thing?” he argued.
He further stated that he even while he was a part of the system had always advocated for a united governmen27 September 2023 6:54pm against the current polarized duopoly the country is faced with.
“In my case I believe so. Because even whiles I’ve been part of the current model ive always preached that we need to be able to prosecute a political agenda that moves Ghana towards a united government,” he said.Source: Cornerlis Kweku Affre
A flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Mampong, Hon. Ing. Francis Addai-Nimoh, has asserted that the party needs a new face to enable it to break the 8 in the 2024 general election.
According to him, the prevailing circumstances of the party require a new face as the next presidential candidate to lead the party to make the “break the 8” mantra a reality.
He said the need for NPP delegates to elect him as the new face and a unifier to bring all factions on board ahead of the 2024 elections should not be downplayed.
Speaking in an interview on “Kessben TV” in Kumasi last Monday, he renewed his call for the delegates to elect a new face in the November 4 presidential primaries of the NPP.
Addai-Nimoh, who is Number 4 on the ballot paper, was confident to pull a big surprise to win the primaries. He stressed that the great elephant party must go into the next elections with a united front, and that could be achieved by a candidate who could improve and consolidate the gains made over the years and also provide equal and equitable opportunities to all their members.
The NPP flagbearer hopeful emphasised that the new face must necessarily be a unifier of unblemished character, with a history of service to the party and the ability to appeal to the electorate.
He, therefore, appealed to all party delegates to choose him to lead the party to enable them to break the 8. He urged the delegates to vote for him, since he possesses the requisite characteristics to lead NPP.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to the presidential elections committee to ensure full implementation of the guidelines for the November 4 primaries to engender a free and fair contest. He was confident that all stakeholders would abide by the guidelines issued by the committee in order not to repeat some of the infractions that occurred during the super delegates conference in August.
A BRIEF PROFILE OF FRANCIS ADDAI-NIMOH
Francis Addai-Nimoh studied Civil Engineering and obtained his BSc Honours from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1993.
Early in his professional life, as a civil engineer, along with other responsibilities later undertaken in government administration and private enterprise, his varied experience has helped to guide his different endeavours to achieve optimal efficiencies, while always striving to contribute to improve lives in Ghana.
Francis had initially worked for a few engineering firms, thereby gaining experience in data collection, road design, contract specification and construction supervision, bitumen production, and organising training sessions to improve standards.
In 2004, the Ministry of Roads and Highways hired Addai-Nimoh as a senior engineer and tasked him to monitor and evaluate all Government of Ghana road projects. These responsibilities offered him the opportunity to become increasingly familiar with the extensive geography and resources across the length and breadth of Ghana. Here, he continued to develop an extended network with a wide variety of people actively involved in their communities, while enhancing his cross-cultural sensitivities towards the nation’s diversity.
Addai-Nimoh, who is a member in good standing of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, also holds an executive master’s degree in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (2009). Previously, he had acquired knowledge and skills in International Procurement from the International Law Institute, Washington (2004). He has also studied Programme and Project Management at RIPA, London (2006), and enhanced his negotiation skills, contract management and administration at the Ghana Institution of Engineers (2005).
He has been developing his leadership skills since his school days; he was elected to serve as Scripture Union President at Navrongo Secondary School, Scripture Union President and Assistant Senior Prefect at Kumasi High School, and Students Representative Council President at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Addai-Nimoh’s first general election campaign had him elected as Member of Parliament in 2008 for the Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region for the NPP until 2017.
As an MP, he gained relevant knowledge and political insight by taking a leadership role. He served as Ranking Member of Parliament on the Select Committee on Environment, Science and Technology (2013-2017).
Although he was fairly unknown at first at that time, he partook in the 2014 NPP flagbearer leadership race of the NPP and placed 3rd out of seven candidates, when President Akufo-Addo became head of the party.
After coming out of government in 2017, Addai-Nimoh became the Managing Director of Franstan Limited, a company established by him. He managed construction projects and other endeavours involving the general distribution of supplies, namely bitumen.
Also, propelled by his lifelong dedication to charitable initiatives, as Chair of the Francis Addai-Nimoh Foundation (FAN Foundation), he also persistently championed impactful projects in education, food security and poverty elimination.
He is now READY, encouraged by an extensive countrywide support, to announce his bid for the leadership of the NPP and to serve as President of Ghana for a renewal that will benefit all Ghanaians.
In Ghana, it’s not uncommon for political leaders and aspirants to break away from established political parties to form their own parties or movements.
This trend often arises from a desire to pursue specific policy goals or challenge the existing political order.
These instances illustrate the willingness of Ghanaian political leaders and aspirants to establish their own political parties or movements in pursuit of their political objectives and to challenge the status quo.
This phenomenon is reflective of the dynamic nature of Ghana’s political landscape.
Here are some notable instances of political leaders and aspirants who have taken this path:
Kwame Nkrumah
Alan,Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings,Hassan Ayariga
Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) to form the Convention People’s Party (CPP). This move played a pivotal role in Ghana’s struggle for independence.
Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom
Dr. Nduom founded the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) after leaving the Convention People’s Party (CPP). He has run for the presidency multiple times as a candidate for the PPP.
Jacob Osei Yeboah
Jacob Osei Yeboah formed the United Renaissance Party (URP) after running as an independent candidate in the 2012 presidential election. He advocates for good governance and has contested subsequent elections as the URP’s candidate.
Hassan Ayariga
Hassan Ayariga left the People’s National Convention (PNC) and later formed the All People’s Congress (APC). He has contested presidential elections as the APC’s candidate.
Dr. Edward Mahama
Dr. Mahama, who was associated with the People’s National Convention (PNC), later formed the Grand Coalition and contested presidential elections as its candidate.
Konadu Agyemang Rawlings:
The former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, made the decision to resign from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012. Her departure from the party was preceded by several events and factors:
Failed Presidential Primaries: In 2008, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings contested the NDC’s presidential primaries against the late President John Atta Mills but experienced a significant defeat. This loss in the party’s internal race may have contributed to her decision to eventually leave the NDC.
Formation of the NDP: In 2012, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings took the step of establishing her political party, the National Democratic Party (NDP). This move signaled her intention to pursue her political ambitions independently of the NDC.
Criticism of NDC: Following her departure from the NDC, Mrs. Rawlings became known for her critical stance towards the party. She voiced concerns and criticisms about the governance and administration of the country during the NDC’s tenure.
Determination to Stay Independent: Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings made it clear that she had no intention of returning to the NDC under any circumstances. Her resolve to maintain her independence in the political arena was unwavering.
John Rawlings’ Appeal: Despite their political differences, her husband, the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, appealed to her to consider returning to the NDC. He recognized the shared history and contributions they had made to the party but understood her reasons for leaving.
Alan Kyeremanten
Alan Kyeremanten, a prominent political figure in Ghana, has taken the significant step of resigning from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and announcing his candidacy as an independent candidate for the upcoming 2024 general elections.
His decision to resign from the NPP and run as an independent candidate was motivated by several factors:
Perceived Unfair Treatment: Alan Kyeremanten expressed his dissatisfaction with how he was treated by the NPP during the recent super delegates congress. It appears that he felt that the party did not treat him fairly in the selection process or within the party’s internal dynamics.
Commitment to Address Key Issues: In his announcement, Kyeremanten emphasized his commitment to addressing critical issues facing the country. These issues include economic development, job creation, and social welfare. He appears to believe that running as an independent candidate would provide him with a platform to address these concerns effectively.
Desire to Serve the Ghanaian People: Kyeremanten’s decision to run as an independent candidate seems to stem from a genuine desire to serve the interests of the Ghanaian people. He may believe that this approach offers him greater freedom to focus on the needs and aspirations of the electorate.
Running as an independent candidate in a general election is a bold move in Ghana’s political landscape.
It signifies Kyeremanten’s willingness to challenge the established political order and to present his vision and policies directly to the voters.
His candidacy will likely be closely watched as the 2024 elections approach, and it will be interesting to see how this decision influences the political dynamics in Ghana.Source:ghpage.com
Ashanti Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has listed a number of ‘sins’ committed by Alan Kyerematen, a former flagbearer hopeful of the governing party.
Kyerematen’s resignation from the party has sternly been criticized by Wontumi, who used to be a supporter of the former minister.
In an interview on his own TV network (September 26), Wontumi TV, he listed five ‘sins’ that Kyerematen has committed against the NPP and explained why his political relevance will end with his decision to contest as an independent candidate.
Old age
“It is about fear that is why Alan Kyerematen has left the party, sometime back, he claimed that Akufo-Addo was old, the sole reason he should be allowed to contest for the presidency.
“Fortunately, or unfortunately, now he is also grown, because at that time, Akufo-Addo was 70 years old, and now he is also 70 years old. Now, you are grown, Alan. You are 70. He has grown and turned into a butterfly,” Wontumi stressed.
Chairman Wontumi & Alan Kyerematen
Ingratitude to the NPP
Wontumi listed how the party has made Alan politically who he is. Listing his appointment as ambassador to the US, trade minister under John Agyekum Kufuor government and subsequently holding the same portfolio under the current government till his resignation in January 2023.
“…the party gave you a position for you to be able to take care of your wife and children. Now, all of you understand English even better than me. Your wife speaks better English than me now; she speaks it more fluently than Wontumi.
“Now, NDC members are speaking for you.”
Shielded till now
Wontumi warned Alan that now that he has left the party, he has exposed himself and should be ready for any attacks or replies that come at him.
“The days of not responding to him, he should be ready, we will now start responding, if this is how you are proceeding, then your end in politics is not ending well,” he stressed.
Pro-NDC posture
“For you, Alan, we have never seen you criticizing the NDC before. You have never criticized the NDC before, despite all the dumsor (power outages) that we experienced and Mahama’s issues.”
He also reiterated claims of Alan’s rumoured position as Mahama’s running mate, which allegation made the rounds but died down.
Lack of touch with Ashanti Regional grassroots
Wontumi also dismissed Alan’s claims that he still maintained a strong link with his home region, the Ashanti Region.
Wontumi asked; “where is his house in this region, at which polling station does he vote? It is his father’s house that is at Enyinam, Alan does not have a house in this region.
Alan warns ‘small boy Wontumi’
Alan, who has announced he will be contesting in the 2024 presidential elections as an independent candidate, said that he is the one who made Wontumi what he is in the NPP.
“Who brought Wontumi to the party? Today, Wontumi is going round making all kinds of noise. If he has someone to thank, it should be Alan Kyerematen. I’m the one who held his hands to the party. Who is Wontumi?
“There are some things we should not be saying but we have been quiet for too long. I brought Wontumi to the NPP and I brought him to the party for a good reason. He was a small-time businessman. Today, when we are talking about party issues, Wontumi is the one dictating,” he said in Twi.
The presidential hopeful said that he helped make Wontumi, the NPP constituency Chairman for Bosumtwi after he (Wontumi) asked for his help and pledged to support his presidential ambition.
“I held his hand and made him a chairman… After he became chairman, he was always following me, he was more than a chief campaigner… I am saying this to praise because he was smart enough to see that Alan was the one who could guide him into politics.
“But he has to be careful with the things he has been doing for the sake of the future. If someone helps you become somebody don’t take the person for granted,” he added.Source:ghanaweb.com
A former Chief of Staff and minister of presidential affairs in the John Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani, has placed the problems of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) squarely on the laps of President Akufo-Addo.
Commenting on the resignation of the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen from the NPP on PM Express on Joy News, the party stalwart did not mince words when he said the party’s problems began the day its former National Chairman and General Secretary, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, were unfairly removed from their roles.
According to the one-time Member of Parliament for Mampong South in the Ashanti Region in the 3rd Republic from 1979 to 1981, “once they [Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong] were removed, the candidate [Nana Akufo-Addo] had his way, and this has continued up to this time” he argued.
In announcing his resignation and subsequent decision to contest as an independent presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, Mr Alan Kyerematen claimed that the party has been hijacked by a select few, who intimidate others who do not agree with them.
Asked whether he agrees with Alan Kyerematen’s claim that a select few have hijacked the party, the 83-year old responded in the affirmative.
“Well, to some extent yes. You know, I think the party’s problems deepened the very day the party decided to sack its Chairman [Paul Afoko] and General Secretary [Kwabena Agyapong], which I believe was unconstitutional under our own party rules, but then the party did it.”
Mr.Kwadwo Mpiani
“Unfortunately, some members, including members of the group to which I belong, take pride in this by saying that they were able to remove these people. As soon as the party removed these people, they gave the party to one man who was the candidate at that time, and who is the President at this time, and this is the problem we have in the party which we are not confronting. And if we don’t confront this problem, we are going to have more problems within the party.”
According to the octogenarian, after the election of the former Chairman and General Secretary at the time, he took part in meetings to resolve the issues that emerged, but there was no headway, only for them to be removed from office.
When he was specifically asked whether he meant President Akufo-Addo and his loyalists are those who have hijacked the party, the NPP stalwart retorted, “What I am saying is that there was this problem, and the party in its wisdom decided to give the party to the Candidate Akufo-Addo, who’s now President Akufo-Addo.”
When the host of PM Express, Evans Mensah pushed further by asking directly if he meant President Akufo-Addo was the party’s problem, Mr Mpiani said, “He is part of the problem. All of us are part, and he is part of the problem.”
The known Kufuor ally, who described Alan’s exit and subsequent decision as unfortunate, however, agreed with him generally that there are problems in the party.
Although he said he was not consulted by Alan on his decision, he said he was not surprised about it and was not opposed to it either.
“There have been problems with the party except that those of us in the party are trying to behave like ostriches and not seeing what’s in the party. I was not too much surprised about what happened because I have been telling colleagues that the way the party is going, if we are not lucky, there are going to be more serious upheavals in the future.”
“I have had the occasion of talking to my colleagues even at the Council of Elders that we must sit up and try to confront the issues in the party. If we pretend that everything is okay we’re going to regret it in the future. Unfortunately, some people didn’t sort of believe what I was saying, and this is one of the outcomes of what is happening in the party” he noted.
He reiterated Alan’s claim about the party being hijacked by a select few, saying, “Unfortunately, the party has become a sort of club for a few people within the party where decisions are taken by them, and then all members are supposed to comply with those decisions. People are not able to come out openly to protest, but those of us sitting back hear a lot of complaints from a lot of members of the party including even those at the highest echelon of the party. And therefore, some of us know that all is not well within the party.”
According to Mr Mpiani, many disgruntled party members who have complained about the current state of the party may want to be part of Alan’s train if things do not improve.
He said the elders of the party may have to reach out to Alan and appeal to him to rejoin the party, adding he’s willing to lead that conversation if the party demands that of him. He said if the party takes the right steps, it can recover from its current challenges.
“Well, we should try to recover. The party has its antecedents which go as far as the 1950s when we became a United Party, and it has a very long history. And therefore, I think we should go back to our beliefs and try to live according to our beliefs. If we do that, we must be able to recover.
Asked whether the current state of affairs will cost the party in the 2024 elections, Mr Mpiani said, “I don’t know yet, but I am sure it is going to affect the party.”
According to him, it was normal for party executives to downplay the impact of Alan’s exit, but behind the scenes, they won’t take it lightly.
Asked whether he thought this decision was the end of Alan Kyerematen’s political career, the former Chief of Staff said, “I don’t know, that’s left for Alan to decide.
This is not the first time Alan is quitting the party. After the 2007 presidential primaries where he contested against Akufo-Addo, he raised issues with the process and went ahead to resign.
However, after the party promised to address his concerns, he returned to the NPP, only to resign again now to contest the national election as an independent candidate.
A failed presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Boakye Agyarko says the resignation of Alan Kyerematen from the party must serve as sufficient notice to the party and lead it into a time of reflection rather than displaying triumphalist arrogance.
“The unfortunate departure of Alan Kyerematen from our ranks must serve a necessary and sufficient notice to us all and lead us to a time of deep introspection rather than a time for gloating or the display of triumphalist arrogance,” the former Energy Minister said in a statement.
Hon.Boakye Agyarko
According to him, the tradition of the NPP must teach members that the consequences of events such as has now befallen them since the heady days of 1951 to date have always been negative and had cast a deep and lingering shadow on their electoral fortunes.
“At least, my brother Kyerematen has put his thoughts and feelings on paper for all to appreciate. How about the many who habour similar and maybe more petulant sentiments in their hearts but are not openly expressing same. There are many in our party today who have, out of dismay, resigned in their hearts and are only waiting to walk away from us at the ballot box.”
“Now is the time to smoothen ruffled feathers and assuage wounded sentiments across the length and breadth of our party. Now is the time to examine ourselves if indeed we are true and faithful to the tenets and values of the UP tradition or we have metamorphosed into an ugly shadow of what we should be. These must become the urgent task ahead of us,” he stated.Source:Abigail Arthur
