There was great joy when a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation, organised Christmas party for 52 orphans at Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation in the Bekwai municipality.

The party, which was held at Kwamang-Abesewa Methodist Church near Asante Bekwai, was solely organised by Akosua Aba Yaw Foundation, an organisation purposely set up to provide help to less-privileged learners in various communities.

Before the dinner, the children were entertained with a variety of activities including pick & act, dancing competition, tag of peace, etc. led by the team members of the foundation.
The executives & members of the foundation, including the chiefs and elders in the area, dined with the orphans to put smiles on their faces in line with the motto of the foundation – Put a smile on a child’s face.

There was much to eat and drink by both the children and their caregivers, as well as community leaders, who were present to grace the event.
Besides, the Founder of Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation,Mr. Isaac Aning aka Akosua Ba Yaw, donated some cash amount for 20 bags of cement to support a project initiated by Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation aimed at providing accommodation for orphans.
Through brother Kay, the Church of Pentecost
Columbus North, Ohio, US, also donated boxes of clothes to the orphans.
Through Winnifred Boateng,
Principle community health nurse (AACMH), the team also donated mosquito nets as well as earlier donation of 20 bags of cement by Prophetess Josephine Badu, Founder of Heaven Ministry.
The official presentation was done by Prophetess Josephine Badu, the Founder of Heaven Ministry, on behalf of Akosua Aba Yaw, who is currently outside the country.
All the children were also given Christmas hats by Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation to have real feelings for the Christmas celebration.

The Founder of Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation, Mr. Adade Emmanuel, Nana Bobbie II Bekwai-Bremang, as well as Nana Kwaku Bonsu, the Kontihene of the area, highly praised Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation for the kind gesture.
They prayed for long life with good health for the foundation’s founder and his team members.
Mr. Adade said the Onipa Hia Mmoa Foundation, as the name depicts, was established about six years ago to help take away children, especially orphans from the streets and support them. Two years ago, Akosua Ba Yaw visited them and realised that their living conditions had improved.
In his statement, Mr Isaac Aning aka Akosua Ba Yaw, a teacher and philanthropist, recounted that during his
teaching journey at Nkwantapon community in the Bosome Freho district, specifically at
Nkwantapong DA primary, Asiwa, he identified the problems the pupils in the area were going through.
Mr.Isaac Aning aka Akosua Ba Yaw Foundation
According to him, most of the pupils were coming to school with an empty
stomach which impaired their concentration during contact hours.
This, he noted, affected their academic performance.
“What was happening was that, during break time, some of these kids would go home and cook, and they never came back to school; we couldn’t punish them the next day,” he added.
He continued, “It was worrisome so I tried to find out why? I realised that most of these kids lived with their old age grandmothers.”
The community was/is a galamsey community where strangers from different parts of the country came and slept with the women, got some pregnant, but the next day they were no where to be found. Also, a number of the kids had lost their fathers through galamsey activities, whilst their mothers had abandoned them to seek greener pastures.
“So I asked myself, what can I do to assist them?
“I decided to speak to some people to assist me to feed these kids. Mr. John Adu Poku, CEO of John Adu Poku Foundation, accepted the proposal and we began feeding the kids. This gesture resulted in massive improvement in school attendance and studies,” he recounted.
Some scenes from the Christmas party
Mr. Isaac Aning, who named the foundation after his late mother, said he identified illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, hunger and lack of school uniforms as the major causes of the low attendance of the pupils to school.
And to help address the issues, he decided to launch and adopt the following interventions:
1.” Yoghurt day”
I was buying them Yoghurt every Friday for them in order to influence them to come to school from Monday to Friday.
“Let’s clothe them” was also launched. I decided to give them school uniforms from my own pocket…
Some scenes from the event
Through that, I got help to give them house wears. I was giving house dress too.
I then realised they were coming to school.. but hungry. I gave them money for food.
When I was teaching in class the next day, I threw a question to a girl in class and she was behaving in a weird manner. She told me she ate nothing before coming to school.
So I spoke to a friend and dad (Mr John Adu Poku) to help me feed these kids…
3.”LET’S FEED THEM ”
Then we employed a woman to cook for them and we paid her every month…
” NO more Kyale” was launched when I realised they came to school with “kyale wate ” and shoes in a bad state, and it reminded me of my school days.
Then I planned buying them some affordable shoes…every week when I came on weekends..so by the end of the term each of them would have something decent to wear
Motivation:
In my junior high school days when we were about to complete school in 2005 ..We took a group picture and I was rejected and embarrassed because of the state of my shoes ..
So I had to borrow my junior’s shoe to wear and snap the picture and give it back..
Yearly programme
“From 2018, we decided to climax everything we are doing for humanity with parties, health screening, community engagement, etc. The 2024 edition is our visit to an orphanage in Bekwai on 27th December 2024,” he concluded.
One thing I will ask you to do before we end the year is to make sure you call all those who have offended you. Let us forgive them.
It doesn’t matter who was right or wrong.
Let us be at peace with everybody today, not tomorrow, because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
Love overcomes everything in this world. As we have few days to cross over to another year, let us show love. May God give us understanding. Amen. Coka, Source: Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah aka COKA
A renowned Ghanaian broadcaster, musician, and cultural icon, Kwame Adinkra, is set to celebrate his birthday in grand style with the release of a brand-new single, ‘Meto Wo Kropon’.
The much-anticipated track will be available on all major digital platforms at midnight on December 27th, just hours before his birthday on December 28th.
Kwame Adinkra
Known for his smooth voice, rich cultural storytelling, and passion for music, Kwame Adinkra continues to make waves in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
This new release marks another milestone in his multifaceted career and is expected to resonate with both his loyal followers and new audiences alike.
During his morning show on Pure FM, Kwame expressed his excitement about the upcoming track, describing it as a “special gift to my fans and supporters who have been part of my journey.
” This is how he explained his motivation and composition on his Facebook page.“
My song compositions often begin in my car, inspired by the rhythms and melodies of world music.
From there, the journey continues with my collaboration with Mr. Collins Agyemang of Mussive Music, where the creative process truly takes shape.
Together, we develop the initial idea, always accompanied by plenty of laughter and good food. Collins then assembles a team of skilled professionals to contribute to the project.Once the demo is ready, we listen to it repeatedly, refining it before presenting it to the big boss, Dan Bassey of Bassey House of Music. Collins and Dan share a natural synergy in their collaboration.
With his remarkable talent and discerning ear, Bassey offers invaluable feedback. We usually complete the song in his studio, whether through mixing or re-recording the vocals. Depending on the complexity of the project, we may take extra time to ensure everything is perfect before release. The creation of Meto Wo Kropon followed a similar process, with one unique twist—Kofi Ackah completed the final mix in Canada.
Additionally, we were thrilled to feature the exceptional talent of international guitarist OT Woods in the production. The result has been nothing short of phenomenal. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed! Meto mo kropon! This song draws inspiration from the profound significance of naming, whether it’s the naming of a child or the naming of towns and cities.
Some children are named after their parents, grandparents, or other influential figures in society. Similarly, towns and cities often carry fascinating stories behind their names.
Obiri Komfo (Okomfo Anokye), a spiritual leader of the Asante Kingdom, provides one such unique story.
According to historical accounts, he planted two seedlings in two prominent towns within Asante. The seedling that thrived was named Kumasi, while the one that struggled to grow was named Kumawu.
In this song, I reimagine the concept of naming by dreaming of acquiring a vast land where I can build a city and name it after my beloved.
Meto wo kropon, literally, I will name a city after you ”The song will be released on Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms at 12:00 AM on December 27th.Stay tuned, celebrate, and be among the first to experience this new masterpiece from the legendary Kwame Adinkra”.

The Special Aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Andy Yaw Owusu, popularly known as Andy, has penned a heartwarming message of congratulations to his mum the Second Lady, Hajia Mrs. Samira Bawumia on her birthday.
Social media platforms have since this morning been awash with messages celebrating the Second Lady who has become an iconic figure in Ghana politics not only for her unique fashion but also her impact on the society.
One of such messages celebrating the auspicious day of the Second Lady is by one of her adopted ‘sons’ Andy Owusu, who is playing crucial role in ensuring the victory of the party and Vice President, His Excellency Dr Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia.
Andy, in a flyer which has since gone viral says “I have the utmost regard foe you mum, and I wish you the most wonderful birthday ever. You’re a powerful Second but my first lady to me who aspires to be the greatest in all that you do. If I’m half as capable as you, I’d consider myself lucky”
The indefatigable Aide to Chairman Wontumi further espouses the generosity of the Second Lady, emphasising her resolve and commitment to humanity “You’ve shown me and Ghanaians the value and significance of giving back to the community”

“The Supreme Court’s decision to ban celebrities from promoting alcoholic drinks is too extreme, Instead of a complete ban, I propose that the timing of these adverts be shifted from the evening hours to the day time when children are in school” he stated.
Mr. Agyemang explained that the proceeds from these advertisements serve as a vital income stream for many celebrities in Ghana. “These endorsement deals are important source of revenue for celebrities. Banning them entirely means that we are depriving these individuals of the much-needed earnings.”
The Taabea CEO argued that his proposed solution of airing the ads during school hours would ensure that children are not exposed to the content after returning home in the evenings.
Dr.Christian Kwasi Agyemang
“This way, we can still allow celebrities to earn from these deals while also protecting our youth from the potential negative influences of alcohol marketing” he disclosed.
Mr Agyemang emphasized that his stance is not about promoting alcohol consumption but finding a balanced approach that considers the livelihoods of celebrities and the well-being of Ghanaian children.
“As an alcoholic drinks manufacturer I understand the importance of responsible alcohol consumption. However, we must also recognize the economic realities faced by many in the entertainment industry. My proposal aims to strike a compromise that benefits all stakeholders involved” he noted.
The Taabea Group of Companies CEO urged the Supreme Court to reconsider its ruling and work towards a more nuanced solution that addresses the concerns of both the FDA and the affected celebrities.
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in 2015 enforced a directive meant to regulate the use of alcohol among Ghanaians. However, aspects of their guidelines prevent celebrities from advertising alcoholic beverages.
The Supreme Court by a majority decision upheld the Food and Drugs
Authority (FDA)’s directive which prevents celebrities from endorsing alcoholic drinks. Creative industry persons including Wendy Shay, Shatta Wale, Brother Sammy,Kuami Eugene, and Camidoh, have all spoken against the law and called on powers that be to repeal it, before the court action initiated by Mark Darlington.
