The Convention Peoples Party has heard of the attack on some Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso which has led to the lives of 8 Ghanaian Lives.
The Party has been expecting the President of Ghana who also is the commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces to brief Ghanaians in details what really happened and the steps being taken to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Unfortunately all what we have seen is a message of condolences and a caution to Ghanaians who desire to travel to Burkina Faso.
We the CPP find this unacceptable and unsatisfactory. It looks like the Ghanaian’s life is not important to our leaders.
In July 2005, about 44 to 50 Ghanaians were murdered in The Gambia, by its leader Yaya Jamel and his soldiers . Instead of restrict and harsher measures against the Gambia, the country only negotiated for a meager compensation for the victims.
This unfortunate situation is being repeated in 2026 with the attack on Ghanaian traders in Burkina Faso.

The Convention Peoples Party is therefore seeking the following answers from the Government.
- Blow by blow account of what really happened in Burkina Faso through our Ambassador to the Sahel Region and the ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- We demand to know the Nationality of the perpetrators, if they are Burkinabès or otherwise.
- We demand to know if Ghanaians are being targeted by some extremist groups and if we are the reason.
- We demand to know if the government of Burkina Faso is capable of protecting Ghanaian lives and properties as we do theirs here in Ghana.
- We demand to know the readiness of our security forces to protect, defend and safeguard the lives of every Ghanaian.
- The CPP demands a formal apology from the Ibrahim Traore led government and detailed plans and assurance to protect Ghanaian lives and properties in their country.
Failure to see any of these actions taken will lead to picketing at the Burkina Faso embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The CPP wants to stress that the Ghanaian has the right to life as enshrined in the constitution of the Republic of Ghana and that it is the responsibility of government to ensure that happens.
Signed
Comrade Osei Kofi Acquah
National Communications Director of the CPP
