The former Ashanti Regional Treasurer of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Dr. Richard John Nkrumah, has cautioned Ghanaian pastors, to desist from prophesying the outcome of elections in the country publicly.
According to him, such Prophecies create confusion within Christian community as many pastors tend to make conflicting predictions about election results.
Rev. Nkrumah explained that, some pastors, have lost dignity and respect, especially in the face of politicians all because they, always give conflicting predictions and sometimes too prophesize from their own minds.
He said as a man of God, there are some prophecies that must be kept secret, pray over them for God’s own direction and guidance instead of publicly announcing them and fuelling instability and chaos.
Rev. Dr. Richard John Nkrumah
Rev.Dr.Nkrunah expressed concern that, pastoral has become a ” battle ground” for exhibition of powers and wealth instead of soul winning.
Saying ‘t is very sad that some pastors ,predict election victory for a particular political party while others in opposite way”.
He noted that, when two divergent prophecies are given, one is likely to fail and this will automatically create division and instability, especially among the members of the two main political parties, NPP and NDC.
Rev. Nkrumah, therefore, used the opportunity to advice men of God,to use their pulpits to preach about the peaceful co – existence that would foster national unity and development instead of focusing on election prophesies.
He ,also reminded the electorates not to rely on prophecies, when casting their votes instead, vote for candidate, they believe can transform and lead Ghana to the promised land.
