EC) to re-run Council of State elections in Ashanti and North East regions on February 17
The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the Council of State elections in the Ashanti and North East Regions will be re-run on Monday, February 17, 2025.

In a press release signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairman of Operations, the EC explained that the re-run in the North East Region was necessitated by a tie in the election, where the top two candidates each secured six votes.

Meanwhile, in the Ashanti Region, the election was disrupted by thugs, preventing its conclusion.

To ensure a smooth electoral process, the Commission has sought the intervention of the Ghana Police Service and has also copied the National Election Security Taskforce to heighten security at the venues.

The EC reassured the public of its commitment to a fair and transparent election process and urged all stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring a peaceful re-run.
