Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise unity, discipline, and renewal as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.
Addressing more than 275 constituency chairmen and party executives at the opening of the 2025 NPP Constituency Chairmen Caucus Conference in Kumasi, COKA warned that internal divisions and personal rivalries could undermine efforts to rebuild after the party’s 2024 electoral defeat.
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!” he told delegates, quoting Psalm 133:1. “The path to victory in 2028 requires forgiveness, teamwork, and a strategic commitment to ethical governance.”

Held under the theme “Building Momentum: The Role of NPP Constituency Chairmen in Uplifting the Party Towards 2028 and Beyond,” the three-day conference at the Longford Royal Centre runs from 20 to 22 June.
COKA’s keynote address also included a proposal to reform the party’s internal qualification system, suggesting that only members who have served at polling station or constituency levels should be eligible for higher office, including regional and national executive roles.
He cautioned against personal agendas rooted in religious, tribal, or economic interests, urging leaders to embrace transparency and healthy democratic debate.
“We must foster a culture where dissenting views are welcomed within the boundaries of respect, and where executives actively participate in decision-making.”
Drawing on quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt, Martin Luther King Jr., and traditional African proverbs, COKA underscored the importance of collaboration and collective responsibility in strengthening the party ahead of the next election cycle.
The conference, a key event in the NPP’s post-2024 calendar, comes as party members across the country push for reform and renewed leadership.
