A leading member of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) in Ashanti region,Mr.Abdul Fatawu Yahaya, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for reducing Hajj fee from Seventy -five thousand Ghana cedis (GH75,000) to Sixty-two thousand ( GH 62,000.).
He said, this was indeed good news and will bring great relief to all Muslims across the country.

Mr. Abdul Fatawu Yahaya, who is also a member of “Stop the 8”,a recognized group within the NDC that campaigned vigorously alongside the officials of the party that led to the landslide victory for NDC in the just ended general election ,said
indeed Mr. Mahama is a listening President,who thinks about the welfare of every Ghanaian.

According to the former Assembly member for Abirem electoral area in the Kwabre Municipality, the quantum of money reduced is indeed significant and believes all Muslims would appreciate it.

He explained that, it is enshrined in the “Holy Qur’an” that those with good financial stand should visit Mecca at least once in his or her lifetime.
He said the decision by President Mahama,would offer majority of Muslims the opportunity to afford the Hajj fee this time round.
Mr Abdul Fatawu Yahaya ,said the gesture by President Mahama, who has spent only one month in office is indeed commendable.”It is a big relief or great opportunity for Muslims and we need to praise him(John Mahama).

Stressing that,” President John Mahama, has done his best and I strongly believe all Muslims would keep on remembering him at all times. If it had been different president or Government,they could have come out with excuses that Muslims should wait until the new government is settled “.he added.

He , therefore,urged all Ghanaians to pray for President John Mahama in order to enable him fulfil all his promises in run-up to 7th December,2024 elections to bring great relief to all and Sunday
