Statement of Condolence
We, members of the Ghana Agriculture and Rural Development Journalists Association
(GARDJA), dedicated to reporting on the country’s environment, agriculture, and rural
development, express our deepest sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight gallant Ghanaians on Tuesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
This devastating loss is felt deeply within our community, as we understand and report daily on the selfless work that many undertake to protect Ghana’s natural resources, support rural
livelihoods, and advance sustainable development. Some of the individuals aboard the helicopter were reportedly engaged in duties critical to national interests in these very areas, serving quietly but powerfully to defend our forests, lands, and rural stability.
Their deaths are not only a national tragedy but a profound loss to the ongoing efforts to protect our environment and support vulnerable farming and rural communities.
Their commitment
reminds us of the immense sacrifices made in the service of causes that often go unrecognised
but are vital to our shared future.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the military and government institutions they served, and the entire nation.
As journalists, we pledge to honour their memory
by continuing to shine a light on the importance of the work they died doing, and by amplifying the stories of those who dedicate their lives to Ghana’s environmental and rural development.
May their souls rest in perfect peace.
Signed
Richmond Frimpong
(GARDJA President)
