By: A news desk report

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of K.Adu Gas Ovens and Stoves in Kumasi, Mr. Kwabena Adu Ebenezer has stated that the establishment of TVET by the government aimed at solving unemployment would not yield any positive outcome if the mode of employing teachers’ remains unchanged.

He said the government should rather employ practical artisan masters to teach in these schools instead of employing mere certificate holders.

Mr.Kwabena Adu Ebenezer popularly known as ” K.Adu ” was speaking in an exclusive interview with this Paper.

He disclosed that the aim for the establishment of TVET by the government is a step in right direction as the graduates would have something to lay their hands on after completion of the course to solve unemployment rate that keeps on soaring.

He however, emphatically stated a programme of this nature needs to be taught by practical artisan masters so that the students can have a fair knowledge than employing University graduates to teach.

He said though, he is not a prophet of doom but the students after completion of the course would end up with nothing which will defeat the purpose of which TVET was established.

Mr. Adu noted that he does not doubt the integrity and credibility of University graduates but they will fail in that area if the experts of master craft personnel are not employ either full or part-time to give the students practice skill

” I only completed Junior High School (JHS), yet some professors thronged to my shop to observe marvelous thing am doing and also patronized my products”he said.

He urged the government to employ practical artisan masters like Mason’s, Carpenters, caterers, painters, welders, electricians among others to teach where these schools are in order to sustain the programme.

He urged parents to encourage their children to learn practical programmes for their own future instead of going to University to study courses where they can’t find job after completion of school.

He said “we must erase perception that those learning practical jobs or various vocationals have weak minds”.

Touching on his own work, Mr. Adu said he has established big factory at Aboaso in the Kwabre East Municipality near Kumasi which can absorb and train seventy artisans but due to lack of funds to acquire machines the project has not started operation.

He however, urged the government to assist him so that he can also train more youth to acquire vocational skills to become self-employed in order to reduce unemployment situation in Ghana.

According to him, his products are very quality and durable in nature and are being exported to countries like Spain, USA, Ivory Coast among others.
