FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 16, 2025
The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) wishes to officially announce the release of the final list of members in good standing. This critical register forms the basis for the Voters’ Register that will be used for the upcoming GJA National and Regional Elections scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.
The release of the list follows a thorough verification and validation process, in accordance with the GJA Constitution and electoral guidelines. Members are encouraged to check their status and ensure they are duly captured on the list, as only those on the register will be eligible to vote.
In line with the Committee’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, fair, and inclusive electoral process, we urge all stakeholders to direct any queries or observations to the Elections Committee promptly for resolution.
Volta Region Vice Chairmanship—Final Nomination Window
The Elections Committee further reminds members that the deadline for submission of nominations for the position of Vice Chairman in the Volta Region is 5:00 pm on Monday, June 16, 2025 (today). This extension was to allow eligible and interested candidates one final opportunity to put themselves forward for service and leadership, after the withdrawal of one of the nominated candidates.
Vetting of Candidates—Tuesday, June 17
The nominated candidates are to take note that the virtual vetting will be conducted on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00 am. Candidates are expected to appear before the Elections Committee fully prepared to submit their credentials and respond to vetting queries in accordance with the Association’s electoral regulations.
Voting Centres in the New Regions
In view of the current low numbers of membership in five of these areas, members will have to vote in their parent regions.
Consequently, those in North East Region will vote in Tamale; Western North in Takoradi; Oti, in Ho, while Ahafo members will also vote in Sunyani.
The Bono East members will, however, vote in Techiman.
Members in these regions are to take note and prepare accordingly for the polls.
The Elections Committee remains committed to upholding the values of democracy, professionalism, and transparency throughout the electoral process. We thank all members for their cooperation and look forward to an engaging and peaceful election season.
