PRESS RELEASE IN RESPECT OF NPP PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARIES -31 JAN, 2026
WHY DR. MAHAMUDU BAWUMIA SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE
On behalf of Team Ken, we are extremely delighted to welcome members of the press and all who have made it to this press conference. As you are all aware, it is left with some few days for the New Patriotic Party (N.P.P.) to go to the polls to elect a flag bearer to lead the party to the 2028 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
As a Political Party, our sole aim and ambition is to capture political power in 2028 and form the next government in 2029.
It therefore behoves the good people of the New Patriotic Party (N.P.P.), more especially the delegates to elect a flagbearer who can win power for us one touch in 2028 general elections.
In the light of the above aim and objective of the party, Team Ken would like to respectfully appeal to all N.P.P. delegates who will cast their votes on 31″ January, 2026 to vote for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong-No.1 on the ballot paper. Tean Ken’s position for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong to be elected as the flagbearer of NPP is premised on the following factors/reasons:

- Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has remained a devoted and committed member of the New Patriotic Party (N.P.P.) since its creation.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has contributed in diverse ways to the development and progress of the party over the years. E.g. Supply of vehicles to the party, provision of uncountable number of party “T” Shirts and used clothes, supported the party with huge sums of money (cash) on several occasions, devoted his precious time for party activities including electioneeing campaigns, high profile party meetings and trips. He supported parliamentary candidates in various constituencies with varied sums of money and other resources. In 2024, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong went round the length and breath of this Country with the then running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia-Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempe (Napo) during the electioneering campaign.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is the only grassroots person among the five (5) aspirants. He understands the grassroot, knows them better and always opens his doors to receive them and help address their issues.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has the welfare and concerns of the delegates at heart and he has demonstrated this love over the years. E.g. he provided rice to polling station executives for Christmas, he supported a number of polling station executives to undergo medical surgery, pard their school fees and gave them employment.

Kennedy is the only candidate who has demonstrated practically that, he is capable of industrializing the economy. He has established factories such as cassava starch at Atetubu Amanten, frun and steel manufacturing factory at Tema, plasnes manufacturing industry and the higgest cold store in West Africa, just to mention but a few. As a private businessman, his factories have been able to create over seven thousand (7000) jobs for the teaming unemployed youth of Ghana.

Ghanaians have trusted and believed in Kennedy Agyapong as very honest transparent and incorruptible politician who can lead Ghana to prosperity
K Kennedy Agyapong has demonstrated to Ghanaians that he has the passion for them and the development of the nation at heart, as he single handedly built the cardiothoracic department at Korlebu Teaching Hospital, power plant as Tamale Teaching Hospital etc.
9 We would like to draw the attention of NPP delegates to the fact that in 2028 NPP as a party cannot use cedi Dollar, economic situation and digitization as campaign message, in that Ghanaians did not appreciate our performance in these areas, and that contributed to our defeat in 2024 general elections. The only candidate who has the message for NPP come election 2028 is Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and that is: Jobs, employment, industries, factories and skill maining for the people of Ghana, especially the teaming unemployed youth,
- Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has never failed to deliver on any promise in his political life, therefore he is the only aspirant that Ghanaians can hold in trust should he give any promise to Ghanaian on job creation and employment during electioneering campaign in 2028.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is a unifier and therefore believes in the saying that in unity, lies strength”. Should he become the flagbearer after 31 January, 2026, he will put in every effort to unite the rank and file of the party for a common purpose and ensure that the party emerges victorious in the 2028 general elections.

Discipline in the party is very key on his agenda. He is a disciplinarian and holds the view that any organization which does not uphold and cherish discipline as a core value can hardly achieve its set goals and objectives. Should he become the flagbearer, he will ensure that the conduct of every party member is guided by the constitution of the party
Fellow delegates, the outcome of 31 January, 2026 election will decide the health situation of the party. It will decide whether the party would continue to be in the sick bed or discharge.
The 31 January, 2026 election is so critical that, delegates should take many factors into consideration before taking the final decision.
Delegates should however reflect on the outcome of the 2023 NPP Presidential Primaries which finally led to the devastating defeat in the 2024 general elections.
In 2023 Presidential Primaries, delegates were promised that should they vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the flagbearer, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Zongo vores Northern votes and Muslim votes would be brought on board to help win 2024 general elections. The question is, could such votes be brought in the 7th December, 2024 general, elections The answer is a big NO NPP lost in almost all the Zongos in Ghans and recorded insignificant number of votes in Northern part of Ghana as illustrated below.

The above 2024 election result goes to confirm the assertion that, it is politically suicidal and strategically unwise for a political party to select its flagbearer from where it has no numbers (strength).
Fellow party members, the Muslim community and the Zongos in Ghana have not held any press conference to express any regret for voting massively against their own brother (Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. The truth is that, even if you give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the second chance, nothing will change, the party will still suffer defeat in 2028 and remain in opposition
After having marketed a candidate for sixteen years, both in opposition and in government and still he was defeated with over 1.7 million votes in 2024 general elections, what opportunity again does he want. Fellow delegates the party can no longer wan, NPP must win power in 2028 with Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong as the flagbearer. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is the man of the people, by the people, and for the people and for that matter the grassroot man.
Apart from J. A. Kuffour, Prof. Evans Atta Mills and Nana Akufo Addo who could not make it to the Presidency on their first appearance, the remaining past Presidents of Ghana including His Excellency John Dramani Mahama made it to the presidency on their first appearance
We would like to use this opportunity to appeal to the delegates who would cast theit votes on 31 January, 2026 to vote No.1 on the ballot for victory 2028.
He is the voice of the voiceless, the hope of the hopeless, and the redeemer of the vulnerable and the poor from the bondage of poverty, hardship and suppression.
