My journalism journey hasn’t been a smooth one but I have found various ways of flattening the rough edges whenever I encounter them.

Growing up, I held to myself a lot of rhetorical questions which I was so anxious to find answers to. The questions had answers and were not as rhetorical as one might be thinking but the typical African setting wouldn’t allow me as a child to be questioning grown-ups.

I was fortunate enough to have discovered myself early enough. The discovery subsequently enabled me to craft my goals and they became my dreams. The dream was to impact lives and contribute to positive change. I realized channeling my energy for impact through the air would do the magic of providing the platforms to ask my rhetorical questions. This is where the desire to deploy the art of journalism became stronger and bigger.

I thought of enrolling in a journalism school to make my passion a reality, more recognizable, and more professional which I actually came to pass.

I received my journalism education at Yonkodo Multimedia College in Accra, New town.

I returned to Kumasi and officially started practicing my profession at New Mercury 91.5 FM in 2015. I worked in the News Department as a Radio News Reporter for five years. I got exposed to so many things that separated me from the world of theory into the practical world of journalism.

I joined Opemsuo 104.7 FM in 2020, the early days of the station’s existence, and continued my job as a Radio News Reporter and Producer.

Gradually I have been asking my questions largely in the areas of social issues, sanitation, local commerce, human well-being, and many others. The answers mostly are not satisfactory and seek to press harder as I journey on.

I appreciate everyone who has been part of my story in any way, especially the leadership that I have worked under their guidance, instructions, and directions in shaping my career.

Friday, July 7, 2023, happened to be a day to witness a step of inspiration to have been honored by Jupiter Media Awards as the Best Radio News Reporter of the Year. It’s indeed been a step of inspiration rekindling my passion and keeping the dream alive.

This piece of writing is to indicate the root and route of my journalism expedition until this hour of honor. I have endured a lot and still pressing on regardless of the challenges as far as the almighty God remains my shield.
