KEJETIA MARKET FIRE OUTBREAK :Ash NPP organizer sympathises with affected shop owners

 

 

The Ashanti Regional Organizer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP),Francis Adomako has sympathized with the victims of Kejetia Market incident.

The newly constructed market popularly known as Kejetia Dubai was gutted by fire following an explosion at one shop at last floor on Wednesday, 15th March,2023.

The caused of the fire outbreak which has damaged several shops and destroyed merchandise goods of traders is unknown now

 

Speaking to The New Trust Newspaper Online about the incident, Francis Adomako said “I’m deeply disturbed by the destruction of several shops and goods worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
I sympathize with traders especially the victims of the fire outbreak” .
He also wishes traders who are said to have been injured as a result of the fire incident a speedy recovery .

The Ashanti Regional Organizer of NPP who is popularly known as François therefore called for a full scale investigation to establish the root caused of the fire incident so as to find solutions to prevent future incidents.

The NPP guru also advised the shop owners to install individual fire extinguishers in their shops for fire prevention.

Francois stressed the need for shop owners to buy insurance policy for their shops and goods aside the entire policy for the market .

The Ashanti Regional NPP Organizer urged Kumasi City Market Limited,the managers of the market to ensure full compliance of segmentation of traders especially those who deal with explosive items to help prevent future disasters.

Francois also Advises managers of various markets across the country,particularly those in the region to take lesson from Kejetia Market fire incident and previous incidents in some markets to urgently install smoke detectors .

They should also make sure that the fire detectors are working at all times.

He commended the personnel of Ghana National Service and other emergency response teams in the region for their contribution towards the combat of the fire outbreak.

It would be recalled that the mangers of Kejetia Market issued a statement below following the incident.

“Kumasi City Markets Limited regrets to inform the general public of the fire incident that occurred in the Kejetia Market Complex today.

The fire which started in the later hours of the afternoon resulted in damaged to some shops.
We are grateful to the Ghana National Fire Service and other emergency services for the swift responses in bringing the fire under control.

Fortunately, no injuries were recorded.
As a result of the incident, the market will be shut down tomorrow Thursday, 16th March, 2023,morning until 12:oopm.Thank you.
