Kennedy Agyapong draws massive crowd at Ken’s national Praise in Accra

By:A special correspondent

Thousands of worshippers, party supporters and members of the public thronged the First Love Church, near the University of Professional Studies, Accra, on Saturday for Ken’s National Praise, a large interdenominational thanksgiving service hosted by Kennedy Agyapong.

The event, which combined prayer, worship and reflection, attracted a cross-section of senior clergy, gospel musicians and political figures, creating what many attendees described as a calm but powerful atmosphere of praise and unity.

Leading Christian figures present included well-known prophets, Methodist bishops, Presbyterian ministers, as well as senior elders and pastors of The Church of Pentecost. Several of the clergy openly prayed for Mr. Agyapong, describing him as a leader with the courage and temperament to unite the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of its upcoming internal elections.

A particularly striking moment came when Prophet Bernard Nelson-Eshun made a prophetic declaration, stating that the same divine revelation that foretold the presidency of John Mahama had also revealed that Mr. Agyapong would emerge as the NPP’s next flagbearer. The declaration was met with loud applause and chants from the congregation.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Agyapong struck a calm and reflective tone, stressing that the programme was not organised as a political rally but as a moment of national thanksgiving. He thanked God for life and preservation, noting that the past year had been difficult for many Ghanaians, with some losing loved ones and others facing economic hardship.

“As long as we have breath, we have a reason to praise God,” he said, quoting Psalm 150:6. He added that many people began the year together but did not live to see the present moment, a reminder, he said, of God’s mercy.

Touching briefly on the political climate, Mr. Agyapong called for peace before, during and after elections, urging party members to avoid violence, bitterness and division. He emphasised that leadership comes from God and not from chaos, and appealed for unity regardless of the outcome of internal contests.

“Elections will pass, but unity must remain,” he said, drawing sustained applause from the audience.

The event was also marked by powerful gospel music ministrations from leading artistes, including Daughters of Glorious Jesus, SP Kofi Sarpong, MOGmusic, Kofi Owusu Peprah, Selina Boateng, Amy Newman, and Grace Ashy, whose performances kept the congregation on its feet.

Organised with support from Laguna Events and other partners, Ken’s National Praise was widely described as well-coordinated, prayerful and peaceful. Observers say the massive turnout and the strong presence of senior religious leaders underscore Mr. Agyapong’s growing influence, particularly among faith-based constituencies, as the contest for the NPP’s next flagbearer gathers momentum.
