THE OUTSTANDING leadership of the Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) Hon. Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has attracted attention from groups within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

One such group is the NPP Northern Patriots, a group based in Tamale, who are calling on the leadership of the ruling party to consider the former Bantama legislator as a strategic choice ahead of the 2024 elections.

The group believes Dr. Kokofu has distinguished himself very well, both as an MP and the Executive Director of the EPA, since his appointment.

According to the group, Dr. Kokofu “is also endowed with personality; and ticks all the boxes for a major role in ensuring that the ruling New Patriotic Party can break the 8 come December 2024”

The NPP Northern Patriots is of the view that the party would require someone who is untainted and possesses the requisite qualities to attract floating voters, as well as the middle class.

Responding to a question as to why a Northern Group will root for someone other than their own for a running mate, the Spokesperson for the group, Nyaaba Nyanburi, said the group considered competence over any other criteria, stressing that the NPP can only break the 8 with leaders who are competent and appealing to voters.
