Some residents of Ashanti region especially those in the regional capital, Kumasi have reacted angrily to a viral video which has exposed heap of rubbish in the Central Business District (CBD) ahead of Christmas festivities.
What sadden residents of Kumasi most is the heap of rubbish at Kejetia roundabout under the Statue of the King of Asanteman, Otumfuo OSEI Tutu II.
The viral youTube video by COVTVGHANA is entitled “Welcome to Kumasi, where the abnormal is normal. such huge disrespect to Asantehene”.
The video which described the indiscrimate littering of refuse by some residents who had thrown caution to the wind also blamed leadership of the city for sleeping over the job.
The viral Youtube video has so far attracted comments from many residents including Mr.Tweneboah Kodua,the President of Kumasi Youth Association (Kuya),a vibrant youth group in the region. Dr.TK as he is affectionately called wrote” This is the state of Kumasi being circulating…

There’s a u tube circulation on Kumasi Sanitation Very very disgraceful….His Post attracted the reaction from Hon Samuel Pyne,the Mayor of Kumasi.
The Mayor replied “TK, if you care to know, u simply don’t take certain actions without engaging stakeholders. Check from the trader groups and the Transport operators what I’ve done with them over the past weeks. I’m engaging Guta this week to finalise our operations. Again, I’m in contact with people who have space including the ghana railways company and other private individuals to make some available so we can move those who claim they have no space. Henry Quartey may have his style but note that not all formations are used for all football matches. Tnz.

Hon Samuel Pyne reacted again with a explanation that “There is this lunatic who went to dump the trash there after the night cleaning Sunday night. The place was cleared when it got to my attention in the morning just before 8.30am. Those circulating the video, including certain persons on other platforms have their motive.
