KSI: MTN REWARDS MOMO MERCHANTS, AGENTS

The leading telecommunication giant in Ghana,MTN-Ghana, has done it again by organizing  a special dinner and awards ceremony for its Momo Merchants and agents.

 

The well organized dinner and awards ceremony held at Lancaster Hotel formerly Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi,was used to appreciate Fifty-Nine (59) Momo merchants and agents for their support and contributions to the MTN Mobile Money business. The awardees   prize ranges from   Motor Bikes, Smart TVs, Laptops, and CCTV Cameras etc.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kingdom books and Stationery products at Kwame Nkrumah university of Science and Technology (KNUST),Mr.Patrick Ansere Dwumfuo was adjudged the overall best Momo agent.He went home with Electronic cash of Fifty Thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc 50,000), a motor bike and certificate of recognition from MTN.

Mr. Nti Adjei Samuel of  Kumasi and Sibaweh Nasibatu from Tamale who picked first and second runner ups also  received electronic cash(E-cash ) of Twenty thousand Ghana cedis Gh¢20,000.000 , a motorbike and Ten thousand Ghana cedis  (Gh¢ 10,000.00) and a motorbike respectively.

Speaking at the special dinner and awards night, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for MTN Mobile Money (MoMo),Mr.Shaibu Haruna revealed that the Company in 2009 decided  to redefine the course of Ghana’s financial sector with the launch of MTN MoMo and after Ten (10) years of operation or implementation, the e-financial mechanism has become a major germ in homes and the business community in Ghana.

Mr.Haruna announced that MTN Momo currently has over 11.3 million subscribers with 250,000 agents and 200,000 merchants across the country.

He said the event was to show or demonstrate their appreciation to the commitment and hard working merchants and agents.He however, explained the transition of its MoMo Services to a full business platform as part of broader ambition for 2025 strategic plan.

Mr.Shaibu Haruna heaps praises on MTN MoMo merchants and agents for their contributions which has led to the Company’s successes over the past Ten (10) years now in the electronic transaction.

The CEO admitted the challenged they had gone through as a result of the global financial crisis coupled with the introduction of E-levy as well as the challenges customers had with accessing with SIM re-registration exercise. According to him, solid services would be introduced in the coming years to advance customer experience as an evolving mobile financial tool.

On his part,the overall best agent for the northern sector,Patrick Ansere Dwumfuo, commended MTN for instituting the awards.He said the awards scheme has encouraged the merchants and the Agents of MTN MoMo.

He said for the pest four (4) years,he has been winning some of the awards but was grateful to God for winning as over best MoMO agent this year.

Mr.Dwumfuo said even though,MTN has done alot of education or awareness creation on mobile money fraud but it remains their major challenged and urged MTN Ghana to continue to collaborate with Ghana police to help flash out the fraudsters from the industry.
