KuYA Commiserates with Victims of Kejetia Market Fire Outbreak

Press Release

March 16, 2023.

The Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA) extends its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the unfortunate and devastating outbreak of fire at the new Kejetia Market.

We are struck with sorrow and dismay following the loss of properties, goods, et al from yesterday’s tragic incident in the section of the Central Business District.

We demand that the recurring fire outbreaks in our markets in the region be given special attention to identifying the cause of this annual menace.

It is completely incomprehensible why our traders keep being overwhelmed by such situations, particularly given the investments they have made.

Therefore, we would like to call on the Ghana National Fire Service and other bodies to expedite their investigations and determine the root cause of the fire outbreak to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

Lastly, we recommend that the Ghana National Fire Service should help deepen education on how to combat fire outbreaks and the emergency use of fire fighting gadgets in our markets by our traders.

Thank You.
