Leaked letter of plans to get Chairman Buttey suspended over alleged lies about Akufo-Addo pops up ahead of delegates conference

This portal has sighted a letter dated 15th July 2025 purported to have been written by Alhaji Masawudu Osman, the National 3rd Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), addressed to Mr. Danquah Smith Butrey, the First National Chairman of the party.

The purported letter has popped up on social media few days to the national delegates conference slated for Saturday, 19th July 2025, in Accra. The conference is expected to be chaired by Chairman Buttey in the absence of the substantive National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, due to health grounds.

The content of the letter centred on Alhaji Masawudu Osman’s decision to officially petition the party’s disciplinary committee against Chairman Buttey.

A key reference is made to an alleged statement by Chairman Buttey to the Council of Elders and Steering Committee members in a recent meeting that the former President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had called him to express his opposition to the date for the upcoming national delegates conference, as well as proposal for the early conference.

Meanwhile, Nana Akufo-Addo’s office on Monday, 13th July 2025, came out boldly to deny the allegations captured by several media outlets.
