THE people of Mafi Tsati in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region have made an urgent call on both governmental and non governmental organisations to come to their to address the perennial water problem they have been battling with.Mafi Tsati,a fast growing community with an estimated population of 2,500 ,for  decades has entangled in annual water shortage which yearly compelled its residents to fetch water from unsafe sources for their domestic activities.Mr.Simon Kototka Gador,the head of the Yadie Family of the Gevie, who made the appeal in his welcome address during the Denya Za Festival celebration,reiterated the importance of providing safe and sustainable water for the residents of Tsati.The occasion which was themed,

brought together,chiefs, opinion leaders, politicians,clergies, and prominent citizens from Mafi Tsati to deliberate on the developmental challenges of the town.

Mr.Kotoka Gador revealed that due to unreliable supply of portable water,many of the indigents fetch water from unclean rivers for their domestic use.According to him,over the years, the people of the town,in particular,women and children have to go through a long distance in search for water.He described the situation as very worrying because it negatively impacts academic and other social activities.

“Water they say is life,because no one can survive without this essential commodity,hence we are appealing to the Central government and other development entities to support this our worthy course as we mobilize funds to find a lasting solution to the problem confronting us”he appealed.He further explained that ,the community has water system, but there is no a reservoir for the storage of water for onwards distribution to every household. He disclosed that a total amount of five hundred thousand Ghana cedis (Gh500,000) was estimated to cost the community to connect pipe lines from Mafi Yorkutikpo
with a reservoir at Tsati to solve the problem.
The Yadie Family head,implored the government to tar a 52 kilometre road from Mafi Abude through Mafi Havenu -Gbirkorfe ,Mafi Tsati to Mafi Avedo connecting Adidome – Sogakofe highways.This he believed would eliminate all barriers,to enhance economy,agriculture and emergency services.
Mr.Kototka Gador urged the government, philanthropists, NGOs,individuals and development oriented organizations to help Tsati to build a morden and descent community durbar ground.”The community durbar when put up would go a long way to boost tourism drive and preservation of cultural and social interactions” he said.
The chairman of Tsati Youth Association (TYA) Mr.Bright Gavor renewed the call for a safe and sustainable water for the residents.
He explained that several appeals for the concerned authorities to address the challenges has not received any positive outcome.” Touching on this sensitive matter at this year’s Denya Za Festival, I hope it would surely get into ears of the authories and other development partners” he remarked.Mr. Gavor used the opportunity to caution the youth to abstain from drug abuse,premarital sex which leads to teenage pregnancies and related sexually transmitted diseases.He admonished them to focus on attaining greater heights in their academic ladder in order to take responsible positions as the future leaders of Tsati and the nation in general.
District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Tongu, Mr. Dodzi Addison Mornyuie in his response to the various appeals made,he assured the people to laias with the identifiable agencies to ensure that Tsati get safe and reliable supply of water very soon.
Regarding the road network, he disclosed that the road has already been awarded to a contractor.He explained ed that the contractor has mobilized to the site and commenced the removal of the surface layers on road the from Mafi Waya indicating his readiness to tar it.
