The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Manhyia South Constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, has filed his nomination forms to, once again, contest the parliamentary seat on December 7, 2024.
Dr.Mathew Opoku Prempeh aka NAPO submitting his nomination forms to Richard Ofori-Atta aka Tomtom, Manhyia South constituency chairman
Napo, who doubles as the Energy Minister, went to the Manhyia South Constituency office in Kumasi on Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by the executives, members and sympathisers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Scores of enthusiastic-looking NPP members, who had got wind of Napo’s visit to the office, virtually laid ambush at the place even before Napo could reach there at 20:10 prompt.
There were wild shouts of “Napo, Napo, Napo!” all over the place when he finally arrived. The lawmaker intermittently waved back to the charged crowd as he entered the office.
He met all the requirements to contest the Manhyia South seat and so he successfully filed his nomination forms after which he left the premises of the office.
In an interview with the media, the Manhyia South MP said he had consistently urged NPP members to campaign on the party’s positive records to retain power and do more for the state.
Receiving the forms, the Constituency Chairman for Manhyia South, Mr. Richard Ofori Atta, aka Tomtom, said the MP had been successful since he occupied the seat in 2009.
The chairman, together with his team, scrutinised all the forms and came to the conclusion that everything was okay in the forms presented by the lawmaker.
He thanked the MP for successfully filing the forms and said the office was opened to everyone who was ready to pick and file his or her nomination forms without any intimidation as speculated.
