The Minority Caucus expressed their deepest sympathies to the affected traders, advising them to unite and push for the needed support.
“We have heard and seen the devastated fire outbreak; we decided to come to sympathise with you, even though a number of our colleagues have already been here,” he indicated.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin said, “What we’re telling you is that this just the beginning of our support for you. We, therefore, wish to use this opportunity to appeal to the government to come to the support of the Adum fire victims from the contingency funds as they did to others. I take this opportunity to appeal to the government to go into the contingency funds and immediately come to the support of the victims. When Parliament resumes sitting, we’ll put our issues before the House for discussion.”
The leadership of the victims expressed their profound appreciation to the Minority Caucus.
They used the opportunity to renew their appeal to government to allow them to reconstruct their shops.
On his part, Lawyer Kofi Obiri Yeboah, the MP for the Subin Constituency, under whose area the fire disaster occured, commended his colleagues for their timely support.
He renewed his position that all efforts would be made to ensure that the affected traders are allowed to reconstruct their shops to avoid delays.
