Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has donated food and educational items to 20 orphanages in the Ashanti Region.

The donations were made on Tuesday, 22nd October 2024, at Heroes Park in Kumasi, on behalf of the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, who was also the Energy Minister.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Petroleum Hub, Nana Timah Boakye, who made the presentations on behalf of Napo, as he is popularly known, also donated exercise books, pencils and pens to the children in the homes.

The items donated included 2,000 bags of 5kg rice and 2,040 pieces of one-litre cooking oil and 2,400 tins of mackerel sardines.

The educational items were 10,000 exercise books, 1,000 pencils and 1,000 pens to the children at the various orphanages.

According to her, Napo is by the donations reminding the managers of the orphanages and the children that he has them in heart.

Napo is known for his humanitarian activities beyond his home region and it was, therefore, not surprising to many after receiving the items.

She revealed that 16 out of the 20 orphanages that benefitted from the items had been on the list of homes Dr. Opoku Prempeh donates to every three months.

“It must be stated that Dr. Opoku Prempeh already has on his list 16 out of these 20 orphanages where he donates to every three months. He, however, decided to add four orphanages to the beneficiary groups this time around,” she explained.

The Subin Constituency Women’s Organiser for the governing NPP, Madam Ama Konadu, was full of praise for Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his kind gesture.

She commended Napo for choosing the Subin Constituency to distribute the items to the orphanages and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

On his part, Evangelist Akwasi Donkor prayed for Dr. Opoku Prempeh for showing kindness to the children and the PWDs.

He, therefore, used the opportunity to encourage other politicians to emulate the good example of Napo to give to support others, especially those in need.

Some of the beneficiaries at the orphanages heaped praises on Napo and prayed for long life with good health in all his endeavours.

Also, they said an emotional prayer for the victory of the Bawumia-Napo ticket in the upcoming elections on December 7.

They believe the Bawumia-Napo combination could be the best bet to improve the well-being of all, especially the children at the various orphanages.

A-16-year old PWD from the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, Margaret Donkor, and Kingsley Boadu, a 12 -year-old boy at the Cherub Orphanage, thanked Dr. Opoku Prempeh for continuously showing kindness to their orphanages.
