Kunsu Zongo, one main area where the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) relies for its major votes, is fast falling for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its key youth-based groups are gradually deserting the NDC.

The zongo community has about six strong youth groups which the NDC has, over the years, relied on to do the dirty works for it in electioneering periods.

But, this time round, the favour the NDC has been enjoying is fast waning as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the constituency, Elvis Osei-Mensah Dapaah, has drawn closer to them, a move they appreciate so well.

Much to the disappointment and surprise of the NDC and its National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who is also in the constituency, the zongo groups, this time round, refused to follow him on his tour

. They rather gathered at their various bases to meet the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako.

Despite a downpour, these groups, comprising Fulanis, Baasares, Kusasis, and Kunsu Zongo youth, waited patiently for the arrival of the Regional Chairman and his team, who were touring the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency.

In spite of the presence of Asiedu Nketia and other stalwarts of the NDC in the community, the groups were visibly happy and expressed appreciation for having Chairman Wontumi at their base.

To them, the misconceptions they had about the NPP had been erased after coming close to the NPP PC.

Chairman Antwi-Boasiako advised them to remain solid behind the NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to win massively in December.

Later, the Chief of Baasare at Kunsu, Nana Agyei Sarpong, with a Baasare name (Gumina), also expressed appreciation to the NPP government for giving hope to the less-privileged in the Ghanaian society.

He advised NPP members not to descend into the gutters with their political opponents, but rather they should focus on preaching their messages to the people.
