The Medical Director of the Tema General Hospital, Dr Richard Anthony says reports making rounds that two babies have died at the facility’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) following a two-hour power outage is “untrue”.
He was emphatic in a statement that no baby died during the unfortunate incident.
Dr Anthony explained that the power outage incident happened on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, when the power from the national grid was interrupted, which compelled the facility to rely on its power plant.
“It must be emphasized that power was restored within two hours by the electricians at the facility,” the Medical Director said, adding “It is worth noting that no lives were lost as a result of this power outage.”
Dr Anthony pledged that the hospital will continue to put the health and safety of its patients at the core of its business.Source: King Edward Ambrose Washman Addo/peacefmonline.com/ghana
