Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central has backed calls for the expansion of the party’s electoral college.
He made the comments when he attended the Freshers’ Orientation and General Meeting of the TESCON branch of the College of Health and Well-Being, Kintampo in the Bono East Region on February 22, 2025.

TESCON (Tertiary Students Confederacy) is the student wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of Ghana, founded on January 8, 2000.
Addressing the TESCON members, he expressed his profound gratitude to the students for their dedicated services and loyalty to the NPP over the years and challenged them to do more as the Party rebuilds to recapture power in 2028.

Additionally, the former lawmaker and presidential hopeful assured TESCON of his unflinching support, given their vital role in youth mobilisation and projecting the Party on various platforms.
He,also called on senior members of the NPP and former government appointees to support and empower TESCON to make the Party more attractive on tertiary education campuses.
He reiterated this commitment to the TESCON members of the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani, Bono Region, on the same day.
In response to suggestions for increasing the voting rights of TESCON from two (2) to five (5) per institution, he indicated his support for granting all TESCON executives of all accredited TESCON institutions voting rights during the Party’s national elections.
This, he believes, will significantly enhance the participation of more youth in the internal processes of the NPP..
Additionally, he affirmed his support for the expansion of the electoral college of the Party to include more members in a manner that protects the integrity of the Party’s structures. According to the former lawmaker, such a move will engender a sense of ownership, avert apathy, and enhance democracy in the NPP
In his speech, he shared his life story and admonished the youth to, among others, set goals, build strategies/plans and activities to achieve their vision, work hard, stay humble, and protect their credibility through honesty in all their engagements with people. Further, he indicated that growing more entrepreneurs is imperative in addressing youth unemployment in Ghana and the continent
