NPP FLAGBEARSHIP RACE:Wontumi must be suspended…Opooman to NPP NEC
A former Presiding Member of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Abraham Boadi also known as Opooman has called on the National Council of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to suspend the Ashanti regional chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as chairman Wontumi for allegedly endorsing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.
The outspoken politician said chairman Wontumi is not bigger than the party and called on the party leadership to call him to order or suspend him to foster unity among party members in the region.
The Ashanti regional chairman of NPP, is said to have rallied the entire Ashanti regional NPP behind the candidature of vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Chairman Wontumi is said to have also came out with a new slogan (BMW) which stands for ‘Bawumia Must Win’ aimed at convincing delegates in the region to throw their supports for vice president.
Chairman Wontumi is said to have unveiled the new slogan at a recent event held to canvass votes for the Dr.Bawumia.
After the programme there has been alot of discussion about the action by the regional chairman since the Party leadership was yet to open nomination for the flagbearehip race.
Commenting on the matter,Mr. Abraham Boadi told viewers and listeners of Silver TV/FM that, Bosomtwe constituency chairman ,Mr.Addai Poku Aikins who is defending the act has deceived the public.
Mr. Addai Poku Aikins told Lovin’C on Silver Omanbapa Morning Show that the event wasn’t purposely for campaigning for Dr. Bawumia but rather promotion of unity among party supporters.
