NPP Govt completed 3 Agenda 111 Hospitals projects not One-Dr.Nsiah Asare sets record straight

Former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, has strongly refuted claims by President John Mahama regarding the state of the Agenda 111 hospitals project, insisting that the facts must be set straight.

Mahama stated that, at the time his administration began, only one hospital from the Agenda 111 Project was completed. He also mentioned that the government needs $1.7 billion to finish and make the other hospitals operational.

Dr. Nsiah Asare speaking in response in an interview on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ pushed back against Mahama’s assertion that only one hospital had been completed, insisting that three hospitals were commissioned under the previous administration on December 5, 2024.

According to the former Director-General, as of January 6, 2025, when they exited office, 101 projects under the Agenda 111 initiative had already been launched. This includes two regional psychiatric hospitals and 99 district or municipal hospitals, with more than 36 of them over 70% complete.

He further clarified that the hospitals still under construction, which are over 70% complete, already had their equipment procured. “For those that are more than 70% complete, their equipment has been procured, and once the buildings are fully finished, they will be equipped,” Dr. Nsiah Asare explained.

Additionally, Dr. Nsiah Asare emphasized the importance of the Agenda 111 project, calling it one of the most crucial initiatives any government can undertake for the country. “Agenda 111 is one of the most important projects any government can do for the country, and it needs to be completed so that the money invested won’t go to waste,” he asserted.
