It would be recalled that, the Ashanti regional chairman of NPP,who is popularly known as Chairman Wontumi made headlines, few days ago after he was reportedly to have declared that “he has formed his own kingdom, making him a more powerful establishment than the King of Asante Kingdom. The reports alleged that he [Wontumi] could speak his mind to the King, whenever he disagrees with him(Otumfuo Osei Tutu II)on issues.
Chairman Wontumi was reported to have said
”I have built my own kingdom; I have my own police and military; and I will speak my mind to Otumfuo if I disagree on an issue with him.” he said, according to the report.
It is against the backdrop, the party’s chief scribe seized opportunity at a news conference in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital to urged the rank file of the Party to seize fire and allow the leadership to address the issue amicably since the party knows its history and deeply holds Asantehene and Asanteman in high esteem.
That, they(NPP members) would never do anything to disrespect the King and Asanteman.
