NPP MEMBERS IN EJISU DEMAND FRESH POLLING STATION , COORDINATORS AND CONSTITUENCY EXECUTIVES’ ELECTIONS

Membership of the NPP in Ejisu Constituency wish to bring to the notice of the General Secretary of the party, Lawyer Justin Kodua, our discontentment with the unlawful and shameful conduct of the recent Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and Constitueny Executives Elections in Ejisu Constituency.

It would be recalled that some notorious members of “Young Patriots” a known fun club of the MP for Ejisu, Mr John Kumah, on the blind side of the Constituency Executives, in defiance of shared common sense and in a complete disregard for procedural rules, were captured in photographs and video documentaries declaring other known members of the fun club as elected polling station executives for the various polling stations in the constituency, deep in the midnight, when there had not been any legitimate election.

This was brought to the attention of the leadership of the party in the region and at the national level, through petitions and formal complaints but leadership failed or simply refused to resolve the issue.

Following this development, some of the aggrieved members of the party had to run to the High Court to find resolution to the situation since the leadership of the party had not demonstrated the slightest seriousness or interest in getting the matter resolved internally.

The Court granted leave for the issue to be heard by an ADR committee which was chaired by Madam Cecilia Dapaah in order to find an amicable resolution to the issue but no communication or whatsoever of the committee’s decision in respect of this matter has been made although the committee has sat on same.

The silence and the lack of communication on the part of the national leadership of the party on the matter is quite worrying.

Thousands of irate supporters of the party in the Ejisu constituency have therefore resorted to the formation of group known as “Independent Patriotic Movement..IPM” with the primary aim of pressenting a credible independent candidate to wrestle the parliamentary seat from the incumbent Npp’s John Kumah.

It is a common knowledge within the constituency that, the disgraceful midnight exercise was orchestrated to perpetuate the reign of the incumbent MP ie John Kumah, since all those selected on that unfortunate night, happen to be members of his young patriots group. This has sharply divided the party’s front.

It is refreshing to note that the National Executive Committee of the party through an internal memo dated 28th December, 2022, and signed by the General Secretary has ordered for a fresh Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and Constituency Executives elections to be conducted in Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region.

Flowing from this decision of the National Executive Committee of the party, it is our collective demand that same is replicated in Ejisu Constituency in order to restore sanity in the party. This in fact goes without saying that, “what is good for the goose is good for the gander”.
