The National Organiser for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye, who is popularly known as Nana B, has incurred the anger of the Ashanti Youth and the ‘queen mothers’ of various markets within Kumasi, for allegedly supporting Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, who is also known as Chairman Wontumi, for allegedly disrespecting the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
At a well-attended press conference held in one of conference rooms of the National House of Chiefs on Wednesday, 17th January 2024, the group described Nana B as a traitor to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for choosing his political party over the Asante Kingdom, even though he (Nana B) is an Asante who owes allegiance to Otumfu

Amaning Kwarteng addressing the media
Nana B, who was the chairman for the vetting of parliamentary candidate hopefuls for the upcoming party primaries slated for Saturday, 27th January 2024, has publicly denied the claim by Otumfuo’s Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Duah, who doubles as the Chairman of the Manhyia South NPP Council of Elders, who was present when the incident happened.
Chairman Wontumi has also refuted the allegation that he disrespected the Asante King during vetting on 3rd January 2024.
In spite of that, a statement read by Amaning Kwarteng, the Spokesperson for the Ashanti Youth, read, “We want to further state that the Ashanti Youth is highly disappointed in the National Organiser for the NPP in the person of Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) for trying to cover up for Chairman Wontumi’s unguided remarks against the Golden Stool.

“Our reason is that Nana B has denied on various radio stations in the country that Chairman Wontumi did not make such statements, only to be revealed by the Kokosohene that, indeed, Chairman Wontumi made such statements.
“In conclusion, the Ashanti Youth wants to tell Nana B that he can’t trade his political interest over his Asante tribe. A word to the wise is enough.”
