The last minute attempt by some Ghanaians, especially the political opponents of Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia,a contender in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential primary slated for Saturday,31st January,2026,by twisting the comments by Dr.Mathew Opoku Prempeh,who is popularly known as Napo,the former Energy Minister and 2024,running mate to Dr.Bawumia,has been exposed big time.

Speaking at the Manhyia South constituency in Kumasi on Tuesday, 27th January 2026, Napo, who doubles as the former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, made some comments to the effect that “I have never seen anyone in cabinet as wise and smart as Dr Bawumia in my seven and a half years in cabinet.”.

The comment of Dr.Mathew Opoku Prempeh,who is one of the key pillars of Dr.Bawumia,has gone viral with his critics and political opponents and social media users reading different means to his comment with some describing the comments as an insult to then cabinet Ministers and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,who was the chairperson of the cabinet.

But, speaking on Movement Television in the morning political show on Wednesday, 28th January, 2026, Kwaku Dawuro, the host of the show, boldly and emphatically shot down the dirty propaganda which opponents want to twist Napo’s comment into to deceive delegates into not voting for Dr Bawumia. Kwaku Dawuro said, “I have also listened to the tape, and there’s nowhere Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh insulted anyone.” He spoke in Twi and the proper explanation is that, cabinet is full of wise people and Dr.Bawumia to him is one of the wisers and smart person.

He (Napo) choose his words very carefully and I don’t see where he insulted anyone of his colleagues former Cabinet Ministers and former President Akufo-Addo.As usual, some people for the best reasons known to them have developed headaches about the comments and have been making insulting comments. How can Napo insult former President Akufo-Addo and his colleagues, former Cabinet ministers?

Most at times, whenever,Dr.Mathew Opoku Prempeh speaks some people alays want to twist it and few days to the NPP Presidential primary, where opponents knows that Napo is one of te key pillars in Ashanti region, they should embarked on propaganda by using the comments to incite delegates against Dr.Bawumia.Kwaku Dawuro, the host of the Movement TV show, recalled that former President Akufo-Addo publicly acknowledges the wisdom and smartness of Dr Bawumia, as has been re-echoed by Napo.

” If you remembered, Nana Addo revealed that during one of the cabinet meetings, Dr Bawumia came up with Agenda 111 hospital projects in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, so where is the dirty propaganda?
