By:Charles Ampong

The Sodohene, who also doubles as Kyidomhene of Mpasatia, Nana Yaw Agyei, has called for reversing of local powers to the traditional leaders in order to sanitize the system.
He said the bane of Ghana now is the allocation of all powers and authorities to the central government.
Nana Yaw Agyei told this paper that Ghanaians in general highly respect their traditional leaders and no wonder in the olden days there was total discipline in the system.

He said, per what is prevailing in Ghana, we need to reverse these powers so that traditional authorities can take full control of their areas and sanction anyone whose action and inactions are contrary to the nation.
Nana Yaw Agyei bemoaned that, this current generation where all powers are assumed to the central government, chiefs risk inviting someone who has been offended for questioning because that person would not even avail himself or herself at the Palace.
According to him, the galamsey fight that has become serious and challenging for the government to overcome could have been easily solved if nananom has been given powers to fight it.
He said, though it’s not all that late and nananom doors are widely opened for the sake of Ghana and future generations.
