SHARKS QUIZ COMPETITION: Manna Int’LSchool in Ksi Adjudged Best School in Ghana

Manna International School at Bremang in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region, in an intellectual display of academic prowess has beaten Delhi Private School (DPS) from Accra in the grand finale to retain the trophy it won last year in the Junior Sharks competition.

 

The retention of the trophy has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the school’s accolade” the school of academicians” is not rhetoric. Manna made a history as the first ever school in the competition to have won it in two succession times.

The Junior Sharks quiz is a learning competition designed by its organizers to unearth the pedagogical skills of the participating students in the areas of numeracy, Science, Information ,Technology Communication (ICT ) , General Knowledge ,Social Literacy  and among  the other areas of academic endeavours .

Manna International, enroute to the grand finale and defeated the Achimota Basic School in the round of sixteen (16) and went ahead to eliminate Vine Christian School at the quarter final stage before thrashing DPS in the final. After an oscillating rounds of four ,Manna obtained 150 points to retain the trophy as against 140 points garnered by DPS to place second. The school did not remarkably only defended the title won last but its students Kwabeba Owusu Donkor and Ivy Ahema Baidoo were adjudged the best contestants.

Owusu Donkor won the overall best student in the competition and also the best student in numeracy while Ahema Baidoo grabed an award for the best student in social literacy.

The team of contenders from Manna comprised, Kwabena Owusu Donkor ,Ivy Ahema Baidoo,Stanley Agyei Boadi Junior ,Nana Kwame Sefa Duah,Richmond Duku Nyarko and  Ama Panin Gyesi Kyereboa.Since 2019 ,Manna in succession has been producing the best students at the end of the competition.

The grand finale which was held at the auditorium of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgery had some entities such as ,the Fidelity Bank ,Coca Cola ,Notheham University, Ashesi University, Free State University and the Media General as the lead sponsors.As its prizes ,Manna  was given a trophy, medals , certificate and a cash of Gh10,000.

The school has also reached the final of this year’s Junior Challenge contest scheduled after the BECE to defend the trophy which it won in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

The Director of the school, Pastor Michael Mensah in an exclusive interview with The New Trust Newspaper lauded the trainers of the contestants and the entire teaching members of staff for their commitment to duty.

According to him, the aim of the school is to train all children that pass through it holistically to fit into all facets of the society and the job market as a whole.”

“I would like to eulogize the teachers through whose tremendous efforts have landed us in achieving this remarkable feat” he noted.

He revealed that despite the resounding victory in the Junior Sharks’ content, the focus has now been directed on how to win the Junior Challenge competition for the third consecutive times.

“We are grateful that by the grace of God have won the Junior Sharks quiz to retain the title ,our attention is now shifted on how to win the Junior Challenge for the third time in role.” he remarked.

Pastor Mensah also hinted on how the teachers were relentlessly preparing the JHS final students for this year’s BECE which is  about two months away ” Manna as an institution whose aim is to get the best results al the times in the BECE ,the teachers  are working tirelessly to  record the best results” he added.

The Head of the trainers, Mr.Daniel  Owusu encouraged other students to take their studies seriously in order to replicate what their predecessors have achieved for the school.”I can say without equivocation that those of you here can become better and best than the contestants who have worked hard to defend the trophy if only you take your studies seriously” he urged them.

Mr. Owusu entreated parents to choose Manna international School as the best place of studies for their children if  only they want the quality education for the children.By:Charles Ampong
