Stay away from troublemakers ahead of 2024 polls – Chief cautions the Ghanaian youth
By Charles Ampong
The Kyidomhene of Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Yaw Agyei, has advised members of the various political parties to desist from acts that could undermine the upcoming general election on December 7.
Nana Yaw Agyei’s advice follows the violent incidents that are being recorded in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) in some parts of the country.
The exercise has been characterised by intimidation and violence in some parts of the country.
Speaking to this paper on Saturday, 25th May 2024, the chief said the bad incidents being recorded in the limited voter registration exercise is a wake-up call to all stakeholders to put in place measures to deal with any misconduct as far as the upcoming 2024 elections are concerned.

Nana Yaw Agyei, who is also the Sodohene of Toase near Nkawie in Ashanti, said there had been so many allegations of busing prospective voters to registration centres by the two major political parties – the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – which to him is an “uncultured and childish” attitude if it is true.
He explained that Ghana had attained international enviable position as far as democracy is concerned and “we must strive hard to retain it.”
“Where is the evidence that the person you assisted to get his or her voter’s ID card will vote for you during the election day?” he asked.
He used the encounter to caution the youth not to allow politicians to toy with their lives, by influencing them to cause mayhem before, during and after this year’s general election.
“You must focus on your own trade and ambitions instead of allowing yourselves to be influenced by small tokens of money from politicians to cause troubles and ruin your lives,” he advised.
