The Ashanti regional Communication Directorate of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) is demanding the immediate suspension of Nana Kwadwo Jantuah ,the host of ‘Kuro Yi Mu Nsem’ and the ‘Kururantumi’ shows on Kumasi-based Nhyira 104.5 fm,a subsidiary of Multimedia group over the alleged $2000 bribery saga.
Mr.Dennis Kwakwa,the Ashanti regional Communication Director of NPP made the call on Tuesday,6th September,2022 at True Vine hotel entitled “TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS($2,000)TWO THOUSAND GHANA CEDIS(GHC2,000) PRESS CONFERENCE”.
Mr.Kwakwa said “our worry is; why should our good friend,Nana Kwadwo Jantuah shift blame on the NPP when the ruling Party had nothing to do with the revelation? Where were the NPP when he agreed to take the alleged 2000 US Dollars from the NDC to do their bidding? Why should he blame the NPP for his predicaments?
This can only leads us into one conclusion that Nana Kwadwo Jantuah is unrepentant in his sordid attempt to carry out the agenda he has been contracted for .He has avowed to do the bidding of the former President,Mr.John Dramani Mahama.
It is also a shame that a whole former President of this country would mingle in bribe payment, an act that has the tendency to destroy the enviable democracy we have toiled for in the last thirty (30) years.Mr.Dennis Kwakwa said though several interesting commentaries came up after the expose of this shameful act of Nana Kwadwo Jantuah,the major surprise, however, has been the despicable ,repugnant and unmerited reaction from the Management of Multimedia Company Limited in Kumasi.
”Subsequently, Multimedia arranged and caused Appiah Stadium to issue a disclaimer in a video footage.
Ironically, Nana Kwadwo Juantuah was seated next to Appiah Stadium in the same vehicle in which that recording was done.
This in fact, tarnishes the image of Managers of Multimedia in Kumasi.We all have revered their smartness and competence over time.We are sorry to have allowed ourselves to be taken for granted all this while.
Mr.Kwakwa said presumably, it was expected that the management of the Multimedia Group would have taken a meticulous and more diligent approach towards the handling of a case of a sensitive nature such as payment of bribe to a journalist, by engaging all the relevant stakeholders, including the general public in whose interest good journalism, is practiced, before arriving at such an unmeritorious conclusion.”We(NPP) therefore believe that the management of Multimedia acted in bad faith when they undertook that shoddy investigation and hurriedly cleared their staff without recourse to broader consultations.
He said they (NPP) refer to the GJA Code of Ethics, in the Preamble ,paragraph 2,which states that, ”The Code is meant to ensure that members of the Ghana Journalists Association adhere to the highest ethical standards, professional competence, and good behaviour in carrying out their duties’.
The Ashanti NPP Communications Director continues that the GJA code of ethics also stipulate in part that,a Journalist is supposed to ‘recognize the public’s right to fair, unbiased, accurate, balanced and comprehensive information’. The Guidelines go further to state that,”a journalist does not accept a bribe or any form of inducement to influence the performance of his/her professional duties’.
“We (NPP) demand the Multimedia Group to suspend Nana Kwadwo Jantuah and undertake a more comprehensive investigations into this all important matter.The Ashanti Regional NPP Communication Directorate accordingly withdraws our participation in subsequent episode of ‘Kuro Yi Mu Nsem’ and the ‘Kururantumi’ shows which Nana Kwadwo Juantuah is the host until our demand of his interdiction is met.His emboldened posture, showing readiness to do his worst in the coming days gives us a cause to worry for the safety of our members. He sounds combative determined to exchange blows if that becomes necessary in his view.
